Jordan Valley Figure Skating Club

One of the milestones in the 100 year history of USFS was the addition of Adult Skating Nationals in 1995. Adult skaters participate in tests, shows and competitions. No desire to compete or test? There are also adult skaters who participate for the exercise and to learn new skills. It's never too late to skate! There are adult classes in every Learn to Skate session. Tonight wrapped up months of work on the Spring Show. A huge thanks to figure skating director Jolyn Hecht and the coaches at Jordan Valley Ice Park for putting their time and talent into making the production a success. Skaters from The Skating School of Springfield and Jordan Valley Figure Skating club skated to a wide array of one hit wonders including "Tell Him", "Mambo #5", "The Hustle", "Mercy" and many more.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Figure Skating organization. Fun trivia fact: There was a national championship held before the organization was founded. Theresa Weld was the national champion in 1914. There were no competitions in 1915-1917. When it was held again in 1918, Theresa Weld took second. She returned when it was held again in 1920 and placed first. Theresa Weld Blanchard continued to place in the top three until 1927.

The Festival of Lights Holiday Exhibition (FOLHE) produced by the Jordan Valley Ice Park and Springfield-Greene County Park Board is scheduled for December 4th at 7 p.m. and December 5th at 2 p.m. Seating will be limited this year and details will be provided as the date gets closer.

Heading out to the Aurora Corn Maize has become a tradition for Jordan Valley FSC! A few skaters made it through the scary corn maze for the first time this year! Several skating parents continued their tradition of NOT going through the scary corn maze.
