Today, we recognize our Service men and women in The U.S. Army Special Forces! On April 9, 1987, the Special Forces Branch was established as a basic branch of ...The U.S. Army. You might know them as the Green Berets--a nickname inspired by their distinctive beret authorized by President John F. Kennedy in 1961. The United States Army Band's bluegrass ensemble, Country Roads, featuring Master Sgt. Tracy Labrecque, salutes The U.S. Army Special Forces with a performance of "The Ballad of the Green Berets." #DYK this song was originally written by Special Forces Soldier Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler and author Robin Moore. This performance was inspired by Dolly Parton's rendition. As we gear up for 3rd Thursday coming up this week, we do have some changes to start the year off. ********** Below is a map, NOTE: this is just a sample drawi...ng not to scale or NOT a vehicle limit, of how we are going to move forward. We are going to park vehicles on the east side of Main Street from 1st to 2nd street. On the west side of main you see where vendors, food and other things are going to blend in with us. *********** It’s exciting that we are opening Main Street back up for 3rd Thursday, this year is going to be fun. We will learn as we grow, expand on our successes and improve where we need. *********** Our goal is to expand on what we set out to do for this show-Raise attention to the history and beauty of all our hot rods, motorcycles and racing communities. A group of us will be meeting At the Post (1212 Wall) on 4-10-21 @ 1000 to continue working on the plans for the August car show. Meeting length = 60 minutes. COVID 19 guidelines including Social Distancing, Mask Wearing, hand sanitizing stations will be observed. If you can make it, let word below.
