Joplin Third Thursday 12.01.2021

Dear Third Thursday Friends, We hope this message finds you well. In response to COVID-19 and in an effort to keep our attendees, vendors and staff safe, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Third Thursday through June, and will plan to resume in July. All vendor fees will be carried forward. ... We will continue to monitor the situation within the community and follow state and local guidelines. We will keep you posted if things change on later events. As we learn how to navigate these uncharted challenges, we appreciate your patience and understanding. We know there’s A LOT going on right now, and our inboxes are overflowing with messages and updates. But we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU. You, our loyal vendors and attendees, are what fuels our business and ignites our passion for creating incredible experiences. Simply put: we can’t do what we do without you. Right now our organization, among so many others in our community, is feeling the effects of this shutdown. Although our events have been temporarily paused, the hard work of our staff, operating costs, and continued expenses has not. As you may or may not know, Downtown Joplin Alliance is an independent non-profit and is funded primarily by events and donations. We need your support more than ever, so we’ve put together a few ways you can help us continue to put on Joplin's Signature event: Consider donating any refund that might be due to you to the organization's operating funds. If you are unable to donate your refund, please send us an email requesting a refund. We will be processing these soon. Donate to our Friends Campaign: https://downtownjoplin.com/friends-of-downtown/ Support Joplin Empire Market https://downtownjoplin.com/joplin-empire-market/. The market is exclusively curbside only until the first week of June. Online ordering is open Tuesday at 8pm to Thursday 8pm. Get the best in local food and artisan goods! Shop and eat local in our downtown! Most of our businesses have reopened and can use your support. Share and like our social media posts on Facebook Your support means the world to us, and will help us navigate this difficult time. We look forward to being able to gather again, but until then, stay safe, healthy, and remember that we (and Netflix) are here for you. Can’t wait to see you soon, Lori

While we can't be together today, let's celebrate the great times we've had the past 13 seasons!

Downtown Joplin Alliance is closely monitoring Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its impact on the Joplin community. We have been in communication with lo...cal officials to make the most responsible decisions for upcoming events, including Third Thursday. Downtown Joplin Alliance will continue to assess the situation daily and will share updates as they become available. The decision has been made to cancel the March 19 Third Thursday event. Though there are currently no confirmed cases in the Joplin area at this time, CDC recommendations now call for the cancellation of all gatherings over fifty people. This decision has not been made lightly as this affects vendors, local organizations, small businesses, restaurants, and many others. While we will not be gathering on Main Street this month, Downtown Joplin Alliance will actively seek out ways to share our downtown businesses online, through websites, social media, blogs, videos, and more. During this time it is even more important to remember that our local boutiques, restaurants, bars, and other small businesses are all being deeply affected by these recent developments and to support them through online purchasing, curbside and delivery options, and other appropriate means. Downtown Joplin Alliance is grateful for the last 12 years of tremendous support and growth of Third Thursday and while we are eager to welcome folks downtown for the 13th season, we are prioritizing the health of our community first. We encourage all organizations and community members to be mindful of information disseminated by local, state, and federal health organizations. Do your part to protect yourself and others. Follow our Facebook page for further updates as they become available.
