On Saturday April 24th, members of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office will be at Warrensburg Walgreens between 10 am and 2pm for the National DEA Drug Take Back Day which is to collect unused prescription medications. Deputies will collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquids, syringes and other sharps and illegal drugs will not be accepted. Vaping devices and cartridges will be accepted provided lithium batteries are removed. With studies indicating a majority of abused prescription drugs come from family and friends, including from home medicine cabinets, clearing out unused medicine is essential.

UPDATELocated and returned to the owner, thank you everyone for all the assistance On Monday, 03/29/31 there was a traffic accident near the 800 block of SE 13 Hwy and a dog that was in one of the vehicles took off from the scene due to being frightened. The owners of the dog have been attempting to locate their dog, Laser, but have been unsuccessful, however, he has been seen in the area. Laser is described as shy and not aggressive. If you see or locate Laser please contact Central Dispatch, 660-747-5511, so we can contact the owners and reunite them.

Sheriff Scott Munsterman was sworn in today by Associate Circuit Judge Brent Teichmann for another four year term. Congratulations Sheriff Munsterman we look forward to the continued progression of the Sheriff's Office.

At 6:30 p.m. this evening, watch an area kid and the Elves of Christmas deliver Christmas presents. The Sheriff's Office is very proud to have the opportunity to pair up with the Elves of Christmas and the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the smiles of these children will last a lifetime.
