Typically, just requesting the card can affect your score up to 10% due to a new credit inquiry. If you happened to open a new card over the holidays, don't fret! Make sure to keep your balance under 30% and try to pay the card off as soon as possible to avoid negative effects on your score (this is a GREAT rule of thumb for all credit cards).
