The University Concert Series is proud to work with our fellow arts and entertainment organizations in Columbia to promote our emergence from this time of uncertainty and closed doors. We are so excited that these venues and others are doing the important and creative work to bring us back to the high caliber of culture and entertainment we have access to in Columbia. We know that arts and entertainment are an essential part of what makes this city such a great place to live. We encourage you to check out the upcoming events from The True/False Film Fest, The MOSY, The Blue Note, Orr St. Studios, and The Columbia Art League.

Missouri Contemporary Ballet presents an audience favorite, LIVE!, featuring both live dance & live music. MCB Artistic Director Karen Mareck Grundy, Resident Choreographer Fernando Rodriguez, and guest choreographer Stephanie Martinez will wow you with their innovative choreography set to a compilation of diverse live music. Seating in Jesse Auditorium has changed due to COVID-19. For the present time we are not selling individual seats. Seating groups for household units from one to five people have been arranged throughout our auditoriums to keep you safe. We refer to these groups as pods. When purchasing a pod, you are agreeing that your seatmates are part of your household bubble, meeting CDC guidelines. The purchaser of the pod must supply contact information including phone number and email address and will be the point of contact for any contact tracing needs. Each pod in the auditorium is a minimum of 6 feet from any point of any other pod. Pods cannot be changed in number of seats, but you may purchase a larger pod than you really need to increase distance.

The University Concert Series has always supported an educational mission in everything we do. For many years, Dr. Michael J. Budds was the education coordinator for the University Concert Series. In addition to concert notes and educational writings, Dr. Budds presented a program of free pre-performance lectures. The informal talks included commentary on the works to be performed and were both entertaining and enlightening. While we mourn his loss, we are proud to honor h...is legacy with this presentation. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia presents 1322: MUSIC OF THE UNITED STATES, IN MEMORIAM OF DR. MICHAEL J. BUDDS 3 P.M. SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 2021 JESSE AUDITORIUM PODS: $25-$125 Pods go on-sale at 10am, Monday, March 15, 2021 This concert features Mizzou students and ensembles performing some of Dr. Budds’ favorite music from the class History of Music in the United States, and honors his lifelong commitment to American Music. When we turned on the ghost light March 22, we had no idea that would be our last event in 2020. Since then, we have worked closely with the Boone County Health Department and the University of Missouri to develop a reopening plan, inviting the public to enjoy live entertainment in our historic venues once again. The journey has not been easy, and there were times when all hope seemed lost. After a 112-year history, it seemed that the University Concert Series was in danger o...f closing its doors for the last time. But the show must go on! The University Concert Series is proud to announce Overture, an exclusive limited spring season featuring local and regional performing artists. We have developed a stringent pandemic performance plan. Our venues will operate at 25% capacity in distanced seating pods, with mask rules strictly enforced. We’re looking forward to a return of national tours to Columbia. We believe that Overture is a step in the right direction. Our goal is to bring back the magic of live entertainment in a venue that is safe for our audience and performers alike. We humbly ask for your support of our effort. By attending one of these upcoming shows, you are supporting the fine arts in our community. We hope you will consider pledging an additional gift at giving.missouri.edu/concertseries . See you at the theatre!

We are sure you have been following the international news on the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and are aware that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working tirelessly to contain the spread of this virus. The CDC’s most recent recommendation is that all events with 50 or more people be postponed or canceled. Though the University of Missouri remains open and operational, it has extended remote learning through the end of the spring semester. The Unive...rsity Concert Series offices will remain open, but we are working to reschedule or cancel our remaining spring semester events. We are taking this action with an abundance of caution for the health of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. If the event is canceled, we will issue a refund. If the event is rescheduled, we will contact you to see if the new date works for you. We understand that you might have questions; we will continue to communicate as we have more information. At this time, we ask for your patience. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you in your seat again soon.

The University of Missouri continues to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. At this time, no known cases have been reported on the Mizzou campus. As a preventative measure, all events with the University Concert Series through March 29 are postponed. Events may be rescheduled or canceled. More information will be made available as soon as possible. Please continue to check our Facebook page and concertseries.org for updates.
