While numbers are going down and people are beginning to receive vaccinations we still ask that citizens remain vigilant in taking precautions in avoiding the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask, avoid large gatherings, practice good hand washing habits and to stay home if you are sick. https://allthingsmissouri.org/county-covid-1/jasper-county/

From the City of Joplin Facebook page regarding rescheduling of second doses **//** Weather causes date cancellation of second dose COVID vaccine clinic with the Joplin Health Department and National Guard **//** Recent inclement weather has caused the Governor’s office to cancel the upcoming date of the second dose of COVID vaccine for those who participated in the drive-thru clinic with the National Guard on January 29th at the Joplin Athletic Complex. Individuals will stil...l receive their second dose of vaccine, however it will not be available on Thursday, February 18th or Friday, February 19th, as originally planned. National Guard members are calling individuals to notify them of this cancellation and to assure them they will be receiving the second dose in the near future. Due to vaccine shipment delays caused by weather conditions, a new date has not yet been established. Individuals will be contacted with that information as soon as the details are determined. Calls will come from various telephone numbers, including the City of Joplin and unmarked cell phones associated with the National Guard. Because we have numerous callers to reach our 1,000 patients, there is not just one phone number people can watch for in their caller identification, said Ryan Talken, Director of the Health Department. We will leave a message on their phones if there is no answer, so we remind people who went through the drive-thru clinic on January 29th to ensure that they have established their voice mail system and it is not full. We will also have to contact them again once we’ve set the date on their second dose clinic. Talken noted that this second dose clinic has been cancelled by the Governor’s office due to the weather and a delay in vaccine shipments. If the second dose is not given at exactly 21 days after the first dose, it’s fine. They received the Pfizer vaccine, which requires at least three weeks, or 21 days, between the two doses. However, there is no maximum interval between the first and second doses for either vaccine. The source for this information is from the CDC and can be found at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/faq.html) They will still be receiving their second dose from us and will be contacted to schedule their second dose as soon as possible when the new date has been determined. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding. See more
