Oh no! Something is devouring all my fennel! Oh yes, something is being nourished by my fennel Swallowtail butterfly larvae. Chomp on, little larvae.

The shiso in the garden is so lovely right now. It's blooms draw honeybees and other pollinator friends. They're letting me share with you at #brooksidefarmersmarketkc tomorrow, 8-1. The fragrance is intensely beautiful. The taste is equally intense. I used this recipe (sort of) for the Japanese equivalent of a sandwich in its convenience and satisfaction on the go: https://www.chopstickchronicles.com/yaki-onigiri-grilled-r/. The shiso leaf makes a nice surface to pick up the onigiri. If you're feeling adventurous and have some pork belly (or need some, check out http://www.urbavorefarm.com) try this recipe. I plan to make it this weekend. Let's compare notes. https://ladyandpups.com/2013//04/pork-belly-shiso-yaki-eng/
