TLDR:Looking for pros/Cons of the NexGen Rev HNR. As we begin our new E36 road racing build I am *once again* shopping for an HNR. Looking for recommendations, but I’m leaning towards the NexGen Rev as they’re offer $150 credit for a paperweight that I have. For my own personal reasons, I will NOT buy a HANS. ... I was an early adopter of an HNR after ringing my bell in a sideways collision with a wall at Gateway back in 02. I did my research and bought an Isaac Device due to the fact that it actually had published lateral numbers. A few years later SCCA and then NASA (or vice versa) made it a paper weight after requiring devices meet SFI 38.1 (yuk) which required a yolk design (grrr). Pissed I took my ball and moved on to CHUMP as they just required something and then ultimately WRL. I bought a new DefNder after that when I wanted to run with NASA. They of course got sued by HANS (or whoever... I don’t care enough anymore) so I again I thought I had a paperweight. DefNder/NexGen will recert the 2004ish DefNder for about $280. They also offer a $150 trade in for expired 38.1 devices. A brand new Large Rev is $500 and after the trade in, $350. I’m thinking a decade or more newer design makes it a no brainer.. but my track record here isn’t the greatest. What says the hive mind?
