This week’s highlight from the collection is a work by the 2019 HOF Inductee, Olivia Parker. Distraction (2016) came from Parker’s explorations of the trials she and her husband were dealt with his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s five years before his passing. Many of Parker’s works created around this window of time meditate on what it means and feels to the senses and mind to go through such a prognosis. Distraction features incoherent inky lines on paper and intense hues creating... a disorienting still-life.
