She exemplifies the Smith-Cotton Girls Soccer program principles an...d is an encouraging role model for players in our program. She brings her best effort and attitude to every day on and off the field...she maintains good grades while balancing the responsibility of being a student-athlete." Jackson, a Freshman Sacred Heart Gremlin Track athlete runs the 800 & the 1600. According to Coach Carrie Smith, Jackson, "ran a PR of 5:07 in the 1600 meters at Lone Jack and shaved 15 seconds off his previous time. And it was his birthday that day, too!" This moves Jackson SOO much closer to his goal for the season...to run a sub 5:00 16...00 meter run. GET IT JACKSON!!! When not setting PR's on the track, Jackson is a starter and major contributor to the Gremlins Soccer team, a member of Student Council, Vice President of his Freshman Class, a member of National Junior Honor society all while maintaining "A" Honor status. According to Coach Brad Hagedorn; "Jaren has been a great leader for us at practice and in the classroom. He had a phenomenal week at our 2 track meets last week. He finished with 4 first place finishes at Osage (in the 100, Long Jump, Triple Jump and the 4x1) and was a medalist 4... times at the Clawson Relays in Warrensburg." I asked Jaren if there was anything he wanted to add and he commented; "I love to do what I do, I love to encourage people, I love being a leader." Well Jaren, it definitely shows in the work you do! Congrats to, MADISON LANE, this week's Bryan Jenkins State Farm Athlete of the Week! Madison, a So. Smith-Cotton Tiger Swimmer is impressing her team and Coach. According to Coach Steger, "Madison is an exceptional example of an athlete that pushes themselves every minute of every day in regards to swim. She has the right mindset and attitude to help her (and her team) succeed. This is Madison’s second year on the team and has only improved with each competition. She came... out last year with basic swim skills and this year has climbed up to compete on the varsity relays. She always has a positive attitude & is coachable; she listens and you can immediately see her try to make the changes. I look forward to seeing her continued success on the team." In addition to Swimming, this busy young lady plays Soccer, runs Cross Country and Track and maintains Principal's Honor Roll. Coen, a Jr. Sacred Heart Gremlin basketball player is a major reason the Gremlins are off to an impressive 6-2 record. According to Coach Goodwin; "Coen is averaging 26.2 points per game, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, has had 2 games of 35 points and 39 points and continues to see improvement in Coen and the team each game."
