If you haven't received your second stimulus payment, it may still be on the way. The IRS says to watch your mail because just because you got your first stimulus payment via direct deposit doesn't mean you will necessarily get it that way the second time. Mailed payments may take another couple of weeks to arrive. If you check Get My Payment and you get the response "Payment #2 status-Not available" you will need to claim the recovery credit on your 2020 tax return.... More info can be found at irs.gov

There's a special contribution deduction up to $300 this year. You do not have to itemize deductions to claim it. If you made cash, check, or card contributions in 2020 to a qualifying non-profit organization, you may be able to claim it. Details can be found below.

Don't forget that if you have an IRS IP PIN they send you a new one each year. We will need that to e-file your taxes.

The Federal Trade Commission urges you to avoid scams. The IRS will not call, text, or email you about your stimulus payments. Thieves are posing as government employees and asking for personal information. They are threatening people that licenses will be revoked etc if you don't send the money "back" to them.

Here is the IRS information on the Recovery Rebate Credit. When you give us your tax information, you will need to let us know if you received both of your stimulus payments in the correct amounts. If you did, we will need no other information from you in regard to the stimulus payments. If you did not receive them, they were incorrect amounts, or you aren't sure of the amounts, please refer to the IRS page about how to get your information so you can have it ready to complete your taxes.

This clarifies some things about who will automatically get the impact payment and who might need to take further steps to get the payment such as updating addresses or bank information. As always, the IRS warns against scammers who will try to get your personal information. The IRS will not call, email, or text you about setting up your payment so please do not give your information out to scammers!

Update: We are still open and doing taxes! Even though the IRS and State have extended the filing deadline to July 15th, they are still encouraging everyone to file as soon as possible. In the hope of keeping everyone safe, we have made a couple of changes. The office is doing drop off and pick up only. This will help protect our clients and ourselves by not having an office full of people. You can drop your taxes off via the mail slot in the door at anytime. We will pic...k drop offs up daily. We also have alternative methods available via email, text, or mail. Open office hours have changed. Beginning Monday March 30th through April 15th, We will be open for pick up Monday & Tuesday from 9-5 and Saturday from 9-1. We will also be open on Wed April 15th. As always, let us know if you need to schedule a time outside of those hours. As usual, after April 15th we will not have regular office hours but will be open by appointment only. Thank you so much for your business. Stay healthy and don't forget to count those blessings! Rachel
