Calling all NHL fans!! We have the opportunity to see a special virtual fireside this Sunday: February 21, at 8:00 pm Central time. Derek Ryan is a forward on the NHL's Calgary Flames and a member of the Canada Calgary Stake. He will be speaking at a virtual fireside on his professional hockey experiences as well as sharing his conversion story. Derek will be sharing his story on why he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the importance of temples and Family History, and answering questions from YOU! Remember that tomorrow (2/20/2021) at noon is the Friend to Friend event for Children with Pres. Russell M. Nelson. It will be broadcast at the Stake Center. Pres. Cato has asked that (if possible) all children (ages 3-11) and a parent come to the event there to watch together (normal pandemic protocol will be in effect). If you are unable to meet at the Stake Center, it will be available to view on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, Youtube, and the BYUtv app.

Where do your ancestors come from?

Today we were (FINALLY) able to award the "STANDING FOR SOMETHING 2020" TO Mrs. Phyllis Moore of the Independence School District. This is one amazing lady that has gone above and beyond to help the youth of this city for more than 18 years. She was instrumental in developing the "ENUF Stop Bullying" program and constant volunteer work with the Children's Peace Pavillion. Her love for the children of the community is boundless, and we wanted to honor her work. With social distancing and masks in place President Dennis Cato, Sister Lupe Moe and Br. Tia Tuala were able to meet with Phyllis and her husband, Melvin, at the flagpole of Chrisman High School for the award. Congratulations Phyllis!! You are an inspiration to us all!!!

The Mexico Area Presidency, with the support of FamilySearch, has organized a family history event called ExpoGenealogia. This conference is completely online and totally free of charge and will take place October 30th and 31st, the same weekend as the Day of the Dead celebration. The program consists of entertainment, keynote speakers, classes, and personal consultations. There is something for everyone at this conference, from members to non-members, and from family history beginners to genealogical experts. Anyone who speaks Spanish in your Area, and especially those with Mexican heritage, will want to explore this special event.
