On this date in 1983 the Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon was attacked by an Islamic Jihad Organization-IJO suicide bomber. 220 Marines, 18 sailors and 3 soldiers lost there lives that day in support of the Multinational Force in Lebanon peacekeeping mission during the Lebanese Civil War.
