ADA Calls Upon Dentists to Postpone Elective Procedures In a communication regarding COVID-19 on March 16, 2020, the American Dental Association called on dentists nationwide to postpone elective procedures for the next three weeks. The announcement went on to say, Concentrating on emergency dental care will allow us to care for our emergency patients and alleviate the burden that dental emergencies would place on hospital emergency departments.... Out of this concern for the health of our patients and our dental team, we will adhere to the ADA guidelines by rescheduling all elective procedures thru April 8, 2020. During that time, and again in accordance with ADA recommendations, we will concentrate strictly on emergency dental care for our existing patients. If you are scheduled for an appointment thru April 8, we will contact you in the coming days to reschedule. If you have a dental emergency, as always call our office at 816.254.7800 and we will either answer your call or be contacted immediately to return your message. Thank you for your understanding. As the ADA said in its release, these are unprecedented and extraordinary circumstances for dentists and all health care professionals . and for our patients as well.
