We are saddened to lose one of our own this weekend. Van Dell was an active member of our church who stepped in and helped when ever needed. He will definitely be missed. Prayers to his family and friends!
FROM THE PASTOR: NEVER GIVE UP ON GOD HE IS WITH US LEADING THE WAY THROUGH THIS GLOBAL CRISIS. It started with toilet paper disappearing off shelves - remember? And now, months after the COVID-19 pandemic first hit our shores, it seems as though we’re living in some apocalyptic movie. We feel our mortality. Anxiety comes creeping in or overwhelms us like a wave. This current global crisis pandemic is a wilderness moment for the world. We might wonder if God has bro...ught us out into the wilderness to abandon and kill us (Numbers 20:4). God intended the desert as a place to save. He brought us out to save us, to show us his power, to offer his comfort and to put to death whatever is in us that is not of Him. We don’t understand how the providence and goodness of God interact with the evil of this virus. We do know that in God’s economy nothing is wasted. As with all the trials we walk through, He makes use of these experiences to sanctify and lead us closer to Himself. The desert will either draw us deeper into the story of a good God or cause us to turn our back in favor of our own kingdoms of control. So my friends, if you wake up in a sweat-soaked bed of anxiety, resorting to numbing yourself in countless ways, when you feel depressed and powerless regarding the pandemic unfolding more and more, day by day, you can either choose to rest in Christ knowing He is with us in our desert wanderings or we can choose to go it alone, by ourselves, in our own wilderness moments. If you feel abandoned, alone, and forgotten by God; if you feel the pandemic is too big; even as you go through your own losses, anxiety or pain, think of all the others who may be homeless, incarcerated, no employment, etc. Wilderness moments like this, while it can look and feel like death, can also be where God meets us. Ask yourself: Can I grow without pain? Do I believe God uses loss to make me more like His Son? Is it possible this pandemic might reorient my trust in the power of a good and loving God? In seasons such as the one we’re now in, we find ourselves stripped of many comforts, sense of control, etc. It’s here we’re offered the chance to get to know a God who uses His power on behalf of His people a God who hems us in with cloud and fire. Even in this global health pandemic, Jesus whom we also call Immanuel, meaning God with us --- lives up to His name. Let us pray: For all who are affected by the coronavirus, through illness or isolation or anxiety, Lord graciously hear us. For those who are guiding our nation at this time and shaping national policies, Lord, graciously hear us. For the vulnerable and fearful, for the gravely ill and the dying, let them know your comfort and peace. Lord hear us. For the doctors, nurses and medical researchers through their skill and insights, Lord hear us. Amen.
We will not have church services on 10-18 due to all the recent COVID cases in the county. We hope to go back on the 25th. Thanks!!
Just a friendly reminder that we will not be having church today or board meeting Wednesday. Thanks!
Since we have had several more cases of COVID in our county, we feel it’s in our best interest to cancel church this week, October 11th. We will decide at a later date if we will have church on the 18th. We will reschedule pastor appreciation Sunday as well.
