We had some great donations this week to help feed our community pets!! These donations were greatly needed after the bad weather we experienced last week. These large bags are repackeged into smaller bags for distribution to help more families. Today the Central Missouri Pet Pantry received 800 lbs of dog and cat food to feed our community pets! Where did this donation come from?? A very giving group of volunteers who got together to sew masks at the beginning of the pandemic and ended up helping multiple non-profits like Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue who manages the Central Missouri Pet Pantry. Here is the whole story by Lori Hauxwell... "Sew For Safety" was formed by a group of friends and nurses to make facemasks and help get them out to those in the community that were in need. They accepted donated fabric and supplies as well as money to buy other needed supplies. By the end of July the group had donated over 2000 masks to Columbians in need. As we close out the year with masks readily available the group decided to donate any fabric, supplies and money left over to other groups in need. The group has donated leftover fabric and supplies to Apple Tree Quilting for use with their projects to help cancer survivors, a little over 100 masks to Room at the Inn for our unhoused community members, $300 to the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri, $300 to CMCA to help those in need pay bills, $45 to The Spay and Neuter Project to help our community pet population. We also donated $200 to the Central MO Pet Pantry which bought 800 pounds of cat and dog food. Please continue to help keep each other safe by wearing your mask, washing your hands often and limiting contact with other as often as you can. Our family and our pets needs us to be healthy.
