Curious what a Dock builder's personal dock looks like? Well here's your chance! Today I am featuring Leon Sherrill's dock located on the main channel of Lake of the Ozarks by the 20-mile marker between Linn Creek cove and Margaritaville. If you have any questions please share them below in the comments.

Nostalgic scene of a man intent on his work. I took this image a while back before Tan Tara transitioned into Margaritaville. It's cool seeing this resort evolving with the Lake. I remember being a boy and seeing the oversized snowmen during the holidays up on display my that Grandpa made for the resort. Created from the same styrofoam we used to keep our docks afloat.... We're happy to maintain this relationship over the years. From helping out during fireworks displays to maintaining and building their docks.

DID YOU KNOW THE ROOF OF YOUR DOCK SWAYS BACK AND FORTH AND SIDE TO SIDE IN WINDY CONDITIONS!? Are you aware that the fingers of your dock flex too? It's easy to think that these structures are static objects floating there in the water, but this way of thinking is false. In fact, YOUR DOCK LIKE A SKYSCRAPER FLEXES IN THE WIND, now add water to the mix. ... THAT'S A LOT OF MOVEMENT! You may think, "it's lasted this long without extra bracing why should I bother until I start seeing signs of damage?". I get it when it's out of sight it's out of mind. You shouldn't do that though, because the damage you see is a sign that things are about to stack 10x on you. STRESS BECOMES CRACKS AND THOSE CRACKS BECOME BREAKS, which turn into whole sections tearing and possible damage to your boat and/or your neighbor's property. So instead of waiting for Mother Nature to laugh last, TAKE SOME TIME TO BE PROACTIVE ABOUT YOUR DOCK'S HEALTH. Have a beer and hang out on your dock next time it's windy or rough water conditions and observe what's going on. WHAT DO YOU SEE AND/OR HEAR? If you notice things flexing, popping, clicking, or scratching chances are there's some stress damage. Also, don't be above laying on your belly and taking a look underneath around the tie sections for any loose or sheared bolts. You might come eye to eye with a raccoon, but that's living in the Ozarks for you! Take care, and if you have any questions or feedback please feel free to leave a comment or reach out directly with a DM.

Learn What Features Keep Your Dock Secure In Rough Water. It's Friday, you and your family are driving down to the lake for the weekend. When you arrive, the last thing you want to deal with is a broken dock. Even if it's minimal, the sound of scratching or clicking steel gets old real quick. 3 generations of the Sherrill family have been apart of building docks on Lake of the Ozarks. We had the pleasant surpise of installing a used dock for a client, and it turns out that this used dock was originally built by H & R Docks 20+ years ago by my Grandfather Homer. Watch the video and meet our crew in the process!

Sometimes your boat dock needs a stiff-arm on a swivel. Especially if it is showing signs of stress in rough water. Also, don't forget to inspect your boat dock during this already eventful Summer season with all the weather we've been having on #lakeoftheozarks Learn more at our maintenance page!
