Due to the high volume I'm making a couple changes this week in order to do a good job. Mainly we are limiting the amount of possible orders every 30 minutes for the online store. So the best way to order this week is to go asap to howardskc.com, place your order and schedule your pickup tim...e to guarantee your order. After you add your items to the cart underneath the address you'll see "Change". Click that to schedule your pickup Wednesday-Friday. You can call (816) 721-7835 during business hours to place your order but the online orders will have first dibs if the docket gets filled up. On Thursday night from 5-7 I'll be making fried chicken sandwiches! They'll be available to order in the online store starting Thursday at 4. Or you can call but like above if it gets busy the pre-paid online orders will get first dibs. Last few weeks of service at Howard's in the Crossroads! We're bringing the burger and veggie burger back Wednesdays/ Thursdays from 11:30-3 and Fridays 11:30-7. Order online anytime ahead of your desired pickup time/day at howardskc.com or call (816) 721-7835 during business hours. If you get the voicemail please call back. We're either on the other line or have bluegrass playing too loud. There are other grocery items available in the online shop at howardskc.com. We might prep up some bake at home goods as time allows our stay open later more of the final days if it feels like the demand is there so stay tuned. Come by for a masked, socially distanced farewell and get a rain check for a big ol' hug or high five.

Hello all! We want to announce that Howard's will be closing our cafe in the Crossroads at the end of December. Tomorrow 11:30-1:30 and Friday 12-7 we will be doing the hoagie menu. Call (816) 721-7835 to place your order. We're not sure if we'll be open next week with Thanksgiving coming up. Stay tuned for more details on our last few weeks here. We'll probably do some Howard's classics to finish it out. Not sure what the next phases will be next year but we will definitely keep building our farm and growing a lot of good veggies with a commitment to finding our way in the new food culture we're living in. This Saturday our socially distanced concert series with @ensembleiberica wraps up at our farm in Pendleton Heights. There are still a couple blankets (seats up to 4 if your choosing) left so grab while you can. Will it be a little cold? Yes. Will it be your last chance in a long time to have dinner on an acre in the city while watching a live Flamenco performance and listening to a deep dive into the music of Spain and Portugal? Frozen pizzas and biscuits will be back up on the online shop next week. Testing out some new pizza toppings this weekend. If you guess one of the new flavors we'll give you one for free. If you want a hint venmo us $12 and we'll hook you up with a Grade A hint.

Introducing our house made hoagie roll for our new sandwiches. It's pleased to meet ya. You can't have a great sandwich without great bread so before showing you the new menu we wanted you to meet it. It starts with malted flour, yeast, extra virgin olive oil and a few other ingredients. We mix it and then let it slowly ferment for 2 days to allow the yeast to have time to do its thing producing numerous flavor and aroma compounds. We then shape the dough into 12" rolls (aff...ectionately referred to as Footers around here), let it do its final rise and then bake them off. After the bake it needs to rest for a couple hours and then it's ready for your sandwich. Next up we'll post the new menu soon. To order call (816) 721-7835 Wed-Thu 11:30 -1:30 and Friday 12-7. Howard’s came up on it’s 5th birthday this month without much fanfare. Like most businesses we have been trying to find our approach during these times while staying as safe as we can. Our core financial business model is based around large downtown lunch crowds and large caterings. Both of those are not really a thing right now. We have had some successes but we have come to the point where we can no longer financially continue with our wonderful staff and will be making add...itional changes to our operations. We are still deliberating the changes but this might be the last week for our Griddled Burger and Veggie Burger. We just aren’t doing the volume we need to do on those to make it efficient and workable for a skeleton crew (a.k.a. Craig Howard). We have some tasty ideas and have enjoyed incorporating more baking into our test items so far. Craig has baked professionally and it’s one of his passions so we are working that into our menus. If you have a larger order email [email protected] so we can be ready for you. One of our focuses will be developing and expanding our frozen food line. Right now we offer pizzas and biscuits. We have tweaked those items in the last week so if you had them already try out the new and improved recipe we have now. Other items are in testing stage still but we’ll have more available soon. With winter coming up and the end of our growing season we decided to not plant a large fall garden this year in order to focus on working in the kitchen at the cafe. It will also allow us to prepare some parts of the farm for next year. We have accomplished a lot this year in getting the gardens up and growing but there are still areas that need attention so we are ready to hit the ground running in spring. We are still getting a large summer veggie harvest but we will be ending our weekly veggie pickup after this week. We have been installing a grow room for winter baby greens and microgreens and will offer a weekly (continued in comments)
