There was a great turnout for the dedication of Downtown Lebanon’s newest mural. It was a great dedication and the passion behind the painting of the mural was... clear. Eleanor Ford touched so many lives through the Lebanon education system. She left a lasting, positive impression on her students. Her memory will be honored through this mural and those students. And in case you hadn’t guessed the story behind each letter in Lebanon... L - Lebanon High School and Joel E. Barber school districts E - The historic story of the well that held healing magnetic waters in Lebanon B - The wildlife in Lebanon A - Barrel to represent our history manufacturing barrels N - Location along historic Route 66 O - Lebanon sits on the land of the Osage Nation and was originally named Wyota N - Lebanon sits amidst multiple rivers (Bennett Spring being the most popular) making floating and fishing a favorite pastime There is so much history and so many stories behind this mural, it’s only fitting that Mrs. Ford, famous for her story telling, is featured to honor her memory. This is a move in the right direction for Downtown Lebanon as we preserve our history and hope to use our story to define who we are as a whole. Go check out the mural on the side of Hogan Land & Title. While you’re at it, take a picture in the wings and post it with the hashtags #VisitLebanonMO #downtownlebanonmo and #downtownlebanon

Thank you City of Lebanon for installing the plaques (created at Triumph Engraving) honoring the Osage Nation and Mrs. Eleanor Ford! Thank you Lebanon R-III fo...r coordinating with the city to make this possible during summer school! Thank you Ginger Johnson at Hogan Land Title for allowing your building to be used for this project! Thank you Dr. Jack Hopkins for donating funds for the land acknowledgment plaque! Officials with the Lebanon Parks Department are now discussing fencing this green space that was once St. Bernard’s Fruit Market. Is this the beginning of a new park??? Mary and Levi Miller along with Katy Smeltzer Goslin are working on the Little Library. I’m looking forward to celebrating this work of Lebanon High School Art students this evening at 7:30! Next Friday, 8/21/20 at 7:30 pm will be the official Lebanon Mural Dedication! We plan to project the 12 minute Good Morning Mrs. Ford documentary after suns...et. If anyone would like to help with providing refreshments that would be wonderful! Thank you Paula Chaffin for offering some delicious Stella’s Sweets!
