Avoid any confrontation whenever possible: the fight you always win is the one you were never in. Almost all attacks are avoidable if you do not become complacent to your surroundings. For use of force to be justifiable it must be necessary and reasonable, the threat itself must be unavoidable and imminent. Justified force must stop once the threat ends. Survival isn’t fair. Your attacker will not give you any advantage or dignity while attacking and violating you, so you must be willing to respond at that same level. Remember that your attacker made the decision to play with fire by attacking you, so if he gets burned that’s his problem.

Hockmans Martial Arts 27.06.2020

Good afternoon, Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global pandemic is affecting all our families, our businesses, our communities, and... our way of life. During this time, we wanted to reach out and update you on our upcoming events. First and foremost, our hearts are with those who have been affected personally by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as, the many communities around the world that are facing extreme measures in the attempt to prevent the spread. Secondly, the health and safety of our licensees, members, and those in our community are our top priority. We are closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation, following guidance from both the CDC and local health authorities. After extensive discussions with our high ranked seniors, our councils (business, marketing, and tournament), and various other sporting organizations (including US Soccer, NFL, MLB, USTA, Sports & Fitness Industry Association and others), we made the decision to move the 2020 District Championships and 2020 Worlds. We have also decided to cancel our Athlete Development Summer Camp in Little Rock, AR on July 30. If you have any questions in regards to these postponements, please email [email protected] and your email will be directed to the appropriate department. The decision for this postponement centered on three factors: 1) The health & safety of our ATA licensees, members, and community. 2) The financial hardship presently endured by many of our licensees and members. 3) The general uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, ability to travel, and anticipated guidance by respective health and governmental agencies. At this time, Districts will be moved to September and Worlds will be moved to November and held in Little Rock, AR. The Fall Nationals event in Orlando, FL will be cancelled and incorporated with Worlds. We will share the final dates for Worlds as soon as we have confirmed space availability with the venue. We are aware that this will affect high rank testing and the Masters’ Ceremony. Our current plan is to simply include the ceremony as part of Worlds during its new date for 2020. We are however discussing alternative options with our councils and we will inform you of any further changes. Please note that we will honor your new Master title starting July 15, the original date for the Masters’ ceremony, despite when the Masters’ Ceremony takes place. In regard to testing, if you were registered to test for higher rank at World’s 2020, we will also honor your original testing date. As we go forward and this situation evolves, we will keep you updated. While we are trying to second guess what may or may not happen in the future, much of what we are proposing could be taken out of our hands. All we can do is react to these changes. Our commitment is to keep everybody as informed as we possibly can. Remember, we will get through this together and we thank you for your continued support as we navigate this challenge. We hope everyone remains healthy and safe. Sincerely, ATA Headquarters
