The Bethel Colony Board met earlier this week to discuss scheduled upcoming events and made the difficult decision to cancel our fall activities -- the Wildlife & Outdoor Expo, Pickers Market, and Heritage Days. We always look forward to having people come enjoy our great historic town, but felt that for the sake of our community, now is not the best time to do so. Thanks to everyone for the hard work that has already gone into planning and preparing for these events. Be well.

We apologize that we were unable to connect to Facebook Live to broadcast this morning's program "Exploring Missouri's German Heritage: Bethel German Colony", b...ut we hope you enjoy the recording below! Thank you to Missouri Folk Arts Program and Historic Bethel German Colony for partnering with us on this program. Promised nothing but bread, water, and hard work, German Americans in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and other states sold their property and committed the funds to the vision of Wilhelm Keil, their new leader, and made the journey to the Far West, establishing a colony on the sparsely settled prairies of northern Missouri. Watch the video below to hear the story.
