SOAP Galatians 1:14 Paul demonstrates how it is possible to be one of the most qualified and well-educated religious leaders and yet be in direct opposition to God. He was so proud of his Jewish heritage that he began persecuting Christians to show his devotion to the Mosaic law. Jesus meets him on the road to Damascus and confronts Paul with his sin, transforming his heart and mind. What stance or belief might you be clinging to that is in opposition to God’s Word? It is p...ossible to know the Bible, but not obey the Bible. It is also possible to follow Jesus, but not submit your life to Jesus. We must be careful that our attitude, speech, and behavior reflects Jesus that we see in the Bible, not our own perception of Jesus. This requires that we study the Bible, but more importantly, that we humbly submit to God’s transformation of us through His Word each day. Father God, I thank You for revealing Yourself in Your Word. Give me a hunger and a thirst to know You more through Your Word and to humbly obey Your commands. In Jesus’ name. Amen. For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. SOAP 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 Suffering and persecution realities for believers. Sin is the reason for all suffering, but not all suffering is because of sin. We live in a fallen world where Satan roams about seeking to steal, kill, and destroy. Although Satan may have some influence on our suffering, God can use any hardship for His glory. What is your response to suffering and persecution? Through suffering, believers are emptied of themselves, transformed to Christ’s image, a...nd find deeper intimacy with God. God promises that pain and suffering will not defeat His people. Father God, I thank You for revealing Your love and comfort even in the midst of my suffering. Give me a heart that is full of gratitude and able to praise You no matter my circumstances. In Jesus’ name. Amen. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 2 Corinthians 4:7-11 ESV https://bible.com/bible/59/2co.4.7-11.ESV Love God Greatly: Broken & Redeemed http://bible.com/r/zd

SOAP Psalm 119:68 Our God is in control at all times and He is good, trustworthy, and just. Believers must cling to this biblical truth about who God says He is in His Word. When we doubt that God is righteous and good, we will not be willing to obey and serve Him. In what circumstance are you struggling to believe God’s goodness? A believer’s strength during difficult and painful times comes from trust and faith in God’s sovereignty and inherent goodness.... Father God, I thank You for Your power and glory in my life. Remind me that anything and everything good in my life is solely because of You. Help me to focus on You and not my circumstances. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the Lord , you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord . SOAP Psalm 73:25-26 Our Almighty God desires an intimate relationship with us. We often allow our earthly relationships and circumstances to overshadow the fact that the God who created the universe and everything in it loves us deeply. God is the one who gives wisdom and understanding. He has the power to write His name on hearts. He is a God of second chances, and He pursues His people with great persistence and love. Where are you today? Does your knowledge of God come from the solid truth of scripture, or have you relied on past hurts, worldly philosophies, or false teachings that haven’t given you an accurate view of God and His love for you? If you fall into the first category rejoice and respond in w...orship to our deserving great God today, and continue to pursue a greater knowledge of Him. If you fall into the second category, can I plead with you to ask God, right now, to give you an accurate understanding of who He is? He is the God who saves oh, how He loves you and me! While these verses refer to the exiles from Judah, we get a beautiful glimpse into the heart of God in this passage. He is for us, He longs to build up and not tear down, and His heart is to restore us and give us good things even when we gravely sin against him. Why? Because of His great love for us. Wow, what a gracious, forgiving God! God has the power to change hearts toward His direction. He has the power to give us the knowledge we need to really KNOW Him. He has the p...ower to forgive and restore and to bring us into a loving relationship with Him, no matter how far we have run from Him or how much we have sinned against Him. How deep is the Father’s love for us! Love God Greatly - You Are Loved http://bible.com/r/FE

We hear from Paul again in today’s verses this time in his letter to the church in Colossae. What a prayer warrior he is, and his prayer focuses on the same request: that the church would be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding. Why is this so important? Because in these verses we see the result: when we have a deeper understanding of who God is and what He has done for us, our lives are changed. We have an increased desire to walk in His ways. We bear more fruit. ...We have greater endurance and patience when we realize what we’ve been delivered from! Oh friend, knowing the love God has for us changes the direction of our lives, and should cause us to want to please Him in all that we do. When we pray, it’s common to come to the Father and make our requests known to Him, and simply hope that He will give us what we want. There is an important posture (not physical but spiritual) to have before we can properly come to God. Jesus prayed to His Father and said, Lord of heaven and earth (acknowledging His Dad’s control and rule over everything). He then acknowledged that the Father had hidden truth from some and revealed it to others (revealing His Father’s wil...l). Now, we might wonder, Why would God hide truth from someone? The verse tells us, For it was your good pleasure. What does this mean? God has a will and a plan, and He will accomplish that plan according to His good pleasure. When we pray, we typically just ask God to give us what we want. This kind of posture brings God down to "a genie in a bottle. We are coming before the Lord of Heaven and Earth and seeking His will for our lives. We must have a posture of submitting our desires and plans to His. Lord, help me when I come to you in my hour of need, to be open to your plan for my life. I realize that sometimes my plan and your plan do not line up. Give me the eyes to see your plan for my life and to be happy in the purpose you are setting out before me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. And So Be It. So Be It http://bible.com/r/EX

The Journey with Christ is one of mountains and valleys, ups and downs. It’s more like a roller coaster ride then a train ride. We struggle sometimes to maintain our faith, and that is why Jesus told Simon Peter that he prayed for him that his faith may not fail. Did you know that Jesus is praying for you? Our Lord and Savior is interceding on our behalf. This is great news! We can also follow Jesus’ example and pray for our community around us, that their faith may not... fail. Who is in your life right now whose faith is in a valley? How could you pray for them and encourage them before our Father in heaven? Jesus, thank you for always interceding for us like you did for Simon Peter. I am encouraged that you are always going to the Father on my behalf. Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son Jesus to be my Savior. Give me the ability to continue having faith, even in the valleys. I pray for my friends and family who are struggling to keep the faith, and I ask that through your Holy Spirit, their faith may not fail. In your name, Amen and So Be It. Jesus often prayed first thing in the morning and in a place where he could be alone with His Father. So what does this mean for you and me? Praying early and alone as Jesus did has good reason. Praying to your Father in heaven before you get started in your day, sets your heart and affections in the right direction before the worries of this life have a chance to steal them. Praying alone indicates the special-ness of the relationship you have with your Heavenly Father.... It’s like a dad taking his daughter on a date. She loves it because it’s just the two of them spending time together. God loves going on a date with His children and prayer is the conversation during that time. Heavenly Father, give me the desire to rise early and spend time with you before the challenges of this life steal my affections. Give me the strength and the fortitude to sit in your presence, hear from you, and receive the direction you have for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen and So Be It. So Be It http://bible.com/r/EX
