The little moments are something I reference often with my couples and life in general. Wedding planning is just about planning the big picture as it is about the moments in between; the moments that have infinite potential and should never be overlooked. For Aly and Jason, we presented the idea of a getaway car from the ceremony to the tent reception at the bride's home. As they exited the Old Cathedral, their "silver cloud" Rolls Royce and driver was there to gre...et them. Of course, we were there with a bottle of champagne for their first toast as Mr. and Mrs. Rider. While it was only a short 30-min ride, A & J said it was one of their favorite moments of the day, which is why we believe in a wedding design that is filled with experiences - not just pretty things! There are few things that leave me speechless, but seeing A&J’s wedding day unfold tops the list of awestruck moments. When people say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life they aren’t lying. But there’s more to it than what you do; it’s about who you choose to serve, who you choose to lock arms with, and why your heart beats to that purpose. Yesterday was my birthday and I can’t imagine having spent it anywhere else in the world ...than at a simple, backyard wedding. Undoubtedly, this event was the most challenging, fulfilling, exhausting, rewarding, and meaningful event of my career thus far. You are only as great as the people you surround yourself with and I couldn’t be more thankful for the village that made this event possible. Beyond the amazing creatives that made yesterday a success, it can’t go without saying how much love I have for this couple and their families. This year has been difficult for everyone, but the Tegethoff & Rider families were continuous sources of light, joy, laughter, and support. Even at the most trying points of the COVID pivot process, I was filled with gratitude to serve such kind people. These two families will forever be a lifelong reminder of not only why I do what I do, but the best parts of life in general. Because at the end of the day, it’s who (not what) that really matters.
