There is a reason it is referred to as the "Thin" blue line. It is a well known fact that there are forces in our own country which would, if allowed, take adva...ntage of the weak and indefensible. For more than 240 years America has been a country of law and order based, for the most part, on moral ideals and safety for it's citizens. The only way that this stability of life and sense of security remains is through those who put on that badge every day, kiss their families goodbye and head out to meet whatever circumstances may come their way. Most of our society is unaware of just how close we are to that line being broken. I received a message today from a LEO(Law enforcement officer) who is not from this area. This individual asked that I pray for them due to, among other things, the current stresses of their job. I can assure that this individual is not the only one feeling this way. Incidents and unknowns are so many times out of our control and when you realize that your next traffic stop could be your last then such thoughts are only multiplied. I have known, by way of my profession, many LEOs through the years and can only imagine the stress of being in that role. And in the current environment I cannot fathom how much anxiety they are feeling. It is never just or moral to condemn a whole group for the actions of a few. The Holy Scriptures clearly tell us that we will be held accountable for our own actions and deeds. These people are human and despite an exterior that appears cool, calm and collected, inside lies a human being with many of the same concerns that you and I experience. The men and women of law enforcement have taken on a role in which the pay is insignificant but the responsibility is immense. I can see, as a result of many current events, that in the near future cadet recruitment may decrease and patrolmen and women will become passive in their approach to illegal actions. What once was a respectable profession with the reward of societal peace may soon be replaced with a militaristic style of peace keeping. God help us if that occurs because I can assure you that martial law is far worse than what you think. This line is not a guarantee and to take it for granted may be a fatal step as seen in the annals of history. So in closing I would ask that you join me in prayer this evening for all the men and women of law enforcement. Those who, despite their anxiety, put on that badge and left their family to do a job most of us wouldn't think twice about doing. Pray for their safety and peace of mind. Pray for the spouses, parents and children who worry about the one they want to see return home. When you tuck your children in bed and kiss your spouse goodnight, just remember that there is still a "Thin" Blue Line out there who left their family at home to protect yours from what lies on the other side of that line.
