Firefighters were called to a residential structure fire in the 1900 block of Main Drive just before 11:00 PM last night. Not only did they have to battle the fire, but also bitter cold temperatures of 1 degree F and around -15 degree wind chill. Thankfully everyone was able to make it out of the residence unharmed. In total, it took over a dozen trucks and 50 personnel to contend with the extreme conditions. Thank you to all the other agencies that assisted us, including Eureka Fire Protection District, Fenton Fire Protection District, Saline Valley Fire Protection District, Mehlville Fire District, Valley Park Fire Protection District, and North Jefferson County Ambulance District.
On Monday, December 21st, 2020, the Board of Directors voted to promote Lead Engineer John Barton to the rank of Captain, effective March 1st, 2021. John will be stationed at #2 House on B Shift. John began his career in 1999 as a volunteer with the High Ridge Fire District. He was hired full-time in June of 2009, and has given the fire district much more than his time as a dedicated firefighter. He has spent countless hours and used his knowledge of computer technology to help the fire district become one of the most prepared fire departments in the area. Please join us in congratulating Captain Barton on his promotion! We appreciate his dedication and look forward to his leadership for many years to come.

He has been a lead captain for the district for the last four years and serves as the chairman of our training committee and administrator of our child safety seat program. He has been married to his wife Gayle for 33 years and has three children and three grandchildren, with a fourth on the way! Please join us in congratulating D.C. Coleman on his promotion! We appreciate his dedication and look forward to his leadership for many years to come.

Firefighters from across the region have been training at our station #1 the last two days on specialized ice rescue skills. A big thanks to Trident Rescue LLC for sharing their knowledge with us, and thanks to all the participants for their dedication developing new skills in adverse conditions!
Congratulations to Byrnes Mill Police Department Chief Frank Selvaggio for being recognized as Missouri Police Chief of the Year!
Want to keep up-to-date with the latest news from our district? Follow us on Twitter! The Facebook machine doesn't show posts to everyone at the same time, or even on the same day, so we avoid putting up time-sensitive news and information. If you want to see information like what calls we are responding to, at the time we receive them, then Twitter is the place to be! We don't publish medical calls or exact addresses, but you can see things like what area to avoid due to a vehicle accident, where are power lines down at, etc. Please keep in mind that the account is not monitored 24/7, so for emergencies, call 911!
From our family to yours, we hope you have a very Merry Christmas making memories with friends and family, and we look forward to 2021!
Firefighters responded to an early morning structure fire in the 5500 block of Briarwood Dr in House Springs. The residence was not occupied, and there were no injuries to firefighters on the scene. Thank you to Cedar Hill Fire Protection District, Saline Valley Fire Protection District, Fenton Fire Protection District, Eureka Fire Protection District, and North Jefferson County Ambulance District for their assistance, and Rock Community Fire Protection District for helping cover our area while we worked to extinguish the fire.
We have received a shipment of kits that include masks and hand sanitizer, which are free to members of our community. These kits are limited to one per family while supplies last. If you need these supplies, please call our administrative office at 636-677-3371 Monday-Friday from 8:00AM - 4:30PM. We will write your name on a kit and you can pick it up at the entrance of our station at 2842 High Ridge Blvd.
Well, that escalated quickly . Due to the overwhelming response to this event, we have added a second day - Sunday 12/20/2020. All the time slots for 12/19 have been filled and registration for that evening is closed. Anyone registering for the event will now be added to the second date, and we will email you with more information once the registration is closed. Thank you for the amazing response so far!
Thanks to Byrnes Mill Police Department for letting us be a part of your Christmas parade!

We’d like to thank the #Webelos of Boy Scout pack 553, den 3 for inviting us to their meeting to learn about first aid, and what to do in an emergency. Great job everyone!
We have just returned from a utility pole #fire near the end of Ozark Drive. Crews were able to assess the situation with our #drone to make sure it was safe to approach. The fire has been extinguished and the scene has been turned over to Ameren Missouri.
An epic mustache. It is a revered part of firefighting history - something unattainable by many but respected by all. This month, the mustache takes on a new, significant meaning as part of "No-Shave November," a campaign to raise money and awareness for men's health issues. Many of our firefighters will participate in this month-long effort to positively impact and support projects across mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. They may not be pretty, but they have an important purpose, and we invite others to join us and "grow a mo to save a bro." Visit https://us.movember.com/ for more information.

2020 has changed the way we do a lot of things, but it doesn’t change the need for talking to kids about fire safety. Today we got the chance to talk to Northwest R-I School District kindergartners and 1st graders from Murphy Elementary using Zoom. We reviewed basic safety guidelines, gave them a virtual tour of our truck, and showed them what firefighters look like with all their gear. Thank you to Ms. Johnson, Ms. Frazier, Mrs. Tindall, and all your wonderful students for joining us this morning!
Reminder that we have a different spin on our Halloween Fun Night, which takes place on Saturday, 10/24 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. This event will be a drive-thru trunk-or-treat, where firefighters will be handing out candy along with some Halloween scenes. Everyone is asked to drive through the event and not exit their vehicle or congregate in groups. We hope to see you there!
