Congratulations!

Hawthorn Elementary 09.04.2021

Meet Peyton Foster, one of Hawthorn's Students of the Week! Favorite Subject: Math, because I am better at math and I like multiplying. It's like skip counting. What surprised you about Hawthorn: I got Mrs. Jones, because she was my student teacher last year.... How do you help make Hawthorn a better place: I am kind. If someone falls down, you can help them up. If they don't have a friend, you can offer to play with them. Teacher Comment: Peyton has a great work ethic. She comes in every day with a smile on her face and is ready to learn! She is eager to learn new objectives and makes sure she asks questions when she doesn't understand. Peyton has taken "struggle time" by the horns and uses it to grow! She is always happy and brings a sense of fun to our classroom!

Meet Ava Smith, one of Hawthorn's Student's of the Week! Favorite Subject: I like math and reading. They are both my favorite! Math can teach you so much! Reading all of the books is so much fun! It's so cool! What surprised you about Hawthorn: The lockers surprised me and the whole school is SO clean!... How do you help make Hawthorn a better place: I am kind. When I watch other people not being very nice, I will talk to them about how they need to be nice. I will also help the other kid they are not being nice to. Teacher Comment: Ava Smith is a bright spot to our day! She has such a wonderful disposition and has made so many gains this year!

Meet Ivy Zeller, one of Hawthorn's Students of the Week! Favorite Subject: I like art because I like to be creative. What will you miss about Hawthorn: I will miss the teachers I’ve had at Hawthorn.... How do you help make Hawthorn and/or our community a better place: I did a breast cancer awareness painting for an auction in the community and I also pick up trash and throw it away anytime I see some. Teacher Comment: Ivy is very determined and driven. She tries her best at everything she does. She is always on time to our live meetings and works hard! Ivy asks questions to help her better understand and is always excited to learn more.

Meet Ryan McElroy, one of Hawthorn's Students of the Week! Favorite Subject: Math, because it is the most challenging. It has always been my favorite, because I really love having to think harder. What surprised you the most about Hawthorn: I didn't think it would be that fun, but it is! It's cool that we finally have lockers!... How do you make Hawthorn better: I have helped teach my friends how to play football and how to solve math problems. Teacher Comment: Ryan always has a smile on his face. He tries his hardest in all he does and shows a great work ethic. He is a great friend and tries to make sure everyone is included. He never lets things bother him and always tries to be better than he was the day before. He always has something nice to say about his peers and is the first one to help someone if they need it.

Meet Aven Kaus, one of Hawthorn's Students of the Week! Favorite Subject: Math, because reading is boring. I like to do addition, multiplication and division! What surprised you about Hawthorn: Playing on the football field. It is SO big! ... How do you make Hawthorn better: I help people with their math. I can teach them how to find the answers when it is hard. Teacher Comment: Aven goes above and beyond to make sure that none of his classmates are ever left out. He is a great helper when anyone needs help understanding what we are working on, or when we need extra help around the room. Aven has become a great leader in our classroom!
