Heart of the Hills Food Pantry and Thrift Store

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS I was at Town & Country this afternoon picking up produce to give out. The gentleman in front of me asked if what I was getting was for the Food Pantry, I said yes. He said I will pay for it. I told him I would pay for it but thank you. He insisted. With it being such an emotional morning, I cried. There are good people in our crazy world.

We had a 2nd drive thru for the clients. This day did not turn out as well, one of the volunteers was hurt. A client tried to make a u-turn to get in line. The client’s car jumped off the pavement, run up on the sidewalk, hit the building and the volunteer was trying to get out of the way. The volunteer stepped backwards and fell, possibly breaking a wrist. Please if you know of someone getting food, tell them to go to the parking lot behind our building and use the road to drive to distribution point. Drive slow, watch for people giving directions. We don’t want a repeat of today.

First Food Pantry Day went great. Want to thank the volunteers for coming out and helping. Also, want the thank our clients for being understanding and realizing we were trying to keep them safe. First one done and we will do it again Monday. We will have a food truck some time around 10:30 and we will have to close. Sorry for the inconvenience but this is how we receive our food. We will open back up after unloading the food truck. This is normal every month, we close to unload the truck.

Heart of the Hills Food Pantry will be open Friday, April 3. We will be doing a drive thru, clients will get in line behind the pantry in the gravel parking lot between us and the Wellness Center. You will line up by the buildings, a volunteer will come out and get your pink card. They will go in and sign your name, get your food and bring it out to you. Have a place in your vehicle ready for the food. This will not be a fast process, but we think it will be the safest. Be nice, we will do our best to serve you as quickly as we can. This will probably be how we handle each food day this month.

The Heart of the Hills Thrift Store will be closed until further notice. The Food Pantry will be open for drive up services only. Drive up to the front door and call 683-6400. We will take your information over the phone and bring out the food. We will be open Monday - Thursday - Friday. 9:00 - 1:00 until further notice.
