For us. By us. || If you are seeking mental health resources, guided meditations, or a listening ear, check out these apps and websites designed specifically for and by people of color. Ravae, our Social Media Manager, uses the Shine app and engages with the meditations as a form of self care, particularly as a screen break in the middle of the workday. We hope this list will provide a sense of care, mindfulness, and community for you. Happy Black History Month! . . Happy Friday! We are delighted to welcome psychology interns to the Healing Spaces family! Working with an intern is an excellent opportunity to support a young professional who is seeking to make a difference in the mental health field and in our community. All interns are supervised by a licensed clinician and sessions are offered at lower cost options. If you are interested in scheduling with an intern, please call 314-472-3091 OR [email protected]. Here at Healing Spaces LLC, we encourage you to "invest in your mental health". There are several health and life benefits that come from participating in psychological services and from talking to a professional therapist. In light of recent events and in the wake of yet another extreme example of white supremacy in this country, we hope you are staying safe and doing what you need to care for yourself and your loved ones. It is always okay to ask for support. If we can be that source of support, please reach out today. Sending you all lots of love and light.

Well, we have reached the first Monday of 2021! To say 2020 was challenging would be an understatement. Between natural disasters, the COVID-19 pandemic, the brutal killing of Black citizens and the fight for social justice, and the daily struggles we encounter as people and within our community, 2020 was one for the records. These challenges and events may have impacted you physically, mentally, financially, and/or spiritually... and I am glad to enter 2021 with you. This i...s generally the time of the year where people set resolutions. Well I for one say forget resolutions this year. We are still facing incredible daily stress that makes it hard for us to do the things we used to. We are in survival mode, so focus on surviving. Take things day by day. Prioritize self-care. Use your PTO, even though you’re working from home. Be kind to yourself, your children, your family members, and your friends... because we are all just trying to survive. Now, if you want to make plans for the New Year, I would encourage you to set GOALS. These short, specific goals should be reasonable, relevant and time-sensitive. So, instead of saying you want to get healthy in 2021, your goals could be: I am going to make a doctor’s appointment by February 1st, I am going to meditate three times a week, etc. These are much easier to measure, keep track of, and to stay invested in. It’s 2021. We have survived so much, and we have many challenges ahead of us. Be proud of all you accomplished last year, despite the massive stress you faced and encountered. Here’s to a new year, new successes, and continued self-care where we take care of our whole selves. Happy New Year everyone, from all of us at Healing Spaces STL.

Today, many Americans will reflect on what that are grateful for. This year, however, feels different. It is different. To say 2020 was rough would be GRAVE understatement. Despite all its difficulties, I (Kezia here! ) spent some time this morning reflecting on some of the things and people for which I am grateful. This wasn’t easy, as my mind shifted to some of the pain and disappointment I was feeling today. I am upset that I will not be seeing my family members as I us...ually do. I am saddened that this will be the first Thanksgiving spent without loved ones lost to COVID and other tragedies this year. Today has already been painful, as I am sure it is for some of you as well. I get that pain. I feel that pain. AND I also encourage you to spend some time thinking about some of the things, people, experiences, etc. for which you’re grateful. Once I got into it, my list got longer and longer. I mean, I’m grateful for coffee and Netflix! I am grateful for Wifi, FaceTime, puzzles, pizza...you can see how I can been spending my time inside. Spend some time today reflecting on the positive. And if you’re having a rough time this holiday season, you are not alone. Please do not hesitate to reach out. We are so grateful for each and every one of you. #seasonofgratitude #gratitude #healingspacesstl #stlouis #mentalhealthmatters #stltherapist #stlpsychologist #stlsmallbusiness #stlblackownedbuinesses
