I recently received an annual auditory exam and consultation at Hearing Care Partners with Dr. Karen Melton and her outstanding staff. I got my first hearing aids over a decade ago but knew I needed hearing help many, many, years prior. I received vision help in the form of glasses in grade school had my eyes checked every year since & can still see well. It’s strange but it’s a fact, many of us go for years living with a hearing problem before finally doing something about it. It this describes your existence, I strongly suggest you make an appointment with HCP. It’s one of the easiest ways to bring ‘living’ back into your life. Impaired hearing, over time, brings on two aggravations. The first is yours. You get aggravated by people mumbling; by not being able to understand conversations in so many settings, even at home; and eventually being on the sideline, not able to fully participate or understand what others are enjoying and laughing at. Impaired hearing eventually isolates! The second aggravation belongs to the people around you. Having to repeat so much, sometimes twice or three times. Why don’t you pay attention!! You aggravate them by wanting the TV too loud! You don’t laugh at their jokes! A person with normal hearing has no idea how your world sounds.. distantmuffledmuddyno brilliance. I guarantee you, the first time you walk outside with modern prescription hearing instruments, you will be amazed at the sounds of nature. At HCP they can explain how hearing loss brings on other health issues, possibly dementia and other things that you don’t want knocking on your door. Your audio processing check goes way beyond just determining how you hear some tones. You’ll find it interesting and, of course, it’s painless! THINK ABOUT THIS: A thought picked up from Paul Harvey: An interesting story, a show, is on TV. You can see the picture (you have great vision; have had for years with corrective lenses); but there is no sound! How successful do you think you’ll be in understanding the story line?
