Hazelwood Community Center

The Community Center Gymnasium will open up for drop-in basketball play beginning Thursday, March 25th. There are several restrictions in place in addition to the current facemask/health screen and social distancing regulations. *SLCDPH policies regarding facemasks/health screening/social distancing are in effect. *Drop-in use of the gymnasium is available for those with current ID cards/passes. *Ages 16 and over may use the gymnasium independently. *Those age 15 and under... must be accompanied by a responsible adult, 16 and older. *High Fives, handshakes, fist bumps, etc., are prohibited. *Patrons using the gymnasium must use their own basketball, soccer ball, etc. for individual shooting or skill work purposes only. *Patrons limited to three people per available basketball goal. (15 total in the gym) *Competitions/games of any kind are prohibited, no 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3, etc. If patrons engage in such competition, they will be removed from the facility. *Time slots should be registered for in advance with by calling the Recreation Office at 314-731-0980, or in person. We must have every player’s name and contact number. *Available time slots are: Thursday-Saturday: 9:00-10:30, 11:00-12:30, 1:00-2:30, 3:00-4:30 Sunday: 1:00-2:30, 3:00-4:30, 5:00-6:30, 7:00-8:30 *Patrons not abiding by use policies regarding facemasks, game play, social distancing, and use of their own equipment will be removed from the facility. *NO refunds of any daily fees paid will be given. The 32nd Hazelwood Ice Bowl Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, January 30th beginning at 10:00a.m. Five ...Divisions and two rounds of golf are featured. Awards to top two finishers in each Division. Lunch will be provided. The River City Flyers will host a charity auction. All donated goods and auction proceeds will be given to support local food banks. The Community Center is now an approved SilverSneakers and Prime participating fitness center. SilverSneakers offers those age 65 & older free facility memberships, while Prime offers free facility memberships to those age 18 - 64. Check with your personal insurance carriers to see if you are eligible. It is easy to enroll, just bring your SilverSneakers or Prime ID card to the Recreation Office. We also participate in ReNew Active with United HealthCare. We are here to help you stay fit and active by taking advantage of these services.

The BrushCapades painting event for Friday, November 6th has been cancelled due to the lack of interest.

The Community Center is open for use of the fitness center. Unfortunately, at this time the gymnasium is still restricted to walking or jogging. But the cardio and strength equipment is here for you! We are also available for rentals at the 50% occupancy. The Meeting Room and Art Room can host 25 people while the Warming Room can host 50, and the Gymnasium up to 200. Rooms can also be rented at the Civic Center East. Each individual room can accommodate 30 while all three rooms together can hold a party of 80. Howdershell Park will be closed to the public on Saturday, Oct. 17 until 5 pm for the Parks and Recreation Department’s The Charenji Obstacle Course Race. The equipment is NOT for general public use and is fenced off. Additionally, the Community Center will be closed on Saturday.
