Hurricanes Host Meet with local Sheridan Swim Club Forty-three Hannibal Hurricane swimmers competed against Sheridan Swim Club in a friendly scrimmage meet on March 7th. As a team, the Hurricanes raced to 60% personal records (PRs) in individual races. Eighteen Hurricanes completed a total of 30 new events. Hannibal finished first as a team (3095). Earning Girl Hurricane Swimmer of the Meet honors was nine-year-old, Audra St. Juliana. St. Juliana raced to 100% individual PRs,... improving an average of 5% on each of her individual races. She also saw a 4 second improvement on her 50 fly leg of the medley relay. With a time of 3:31.39, St. Juliana dropped 19 seconds in her 200 IM. Ross Steinman, 7-years-old, earned Boy Hurricane Swimmer of the Meet by dropping in all 4 of his individual races. Steinman anchored the 8&U medley relay dropping 2.5 seconds in his free leg. He averaged 3 seconds improvement per 25-yards and 15 seconds improvement in his 100-yard IM with a time of 2:27.85. Jack Briscoe garnered the RelayBig award for dropping 6.5 seconds in his 50 breast leg of the 13-14 boys medley relay. Twelve-year-old, Adilynn Jacobsen, showed a 20% improvement with her 12 second drop in the 50 back earning her the Gargantuan Swim award. Joining the Minute club is 14-year-old Mahdi Behniaye with his 100 fly performance of a 59.72. Behniaye also captured the Hurricane team record in the 400 IM (4:32.85). Competing in their first meet were Robin Lang and Natalie Burkett. Swimmers earning 100% individual personal records included: Mahdi Behniaye, Corbin Blackford, Jack Briscoe, Sarah Curry, Emily Groth, Allie Hirtzel, Peter Maune, Laura Noland, Audra St. Julian, Collin Steinman, and Ross Steinman. Relay personal best were swum by Mahdi Behniaye, Corbin Blackford, Grace Briscoe, Jack Briscoe, Emily Groth, Cayden Jacobsen, Olivia Johnson, Sarah Knickerbocker, Luke McAdams, Laura Noland, Lydia Routh, Everleigh Spake, Audra St. Juliana, Ross Steinman, Atticus Sternke, Scarlett Sternke, Macie Tuter, Mckenna Tuter, and Landry Viehmann. The Hurricane Spirit award was earned by Madalyn Lowes and the Hurricane Sportsmanship award by Emily Groth.
