Greater St Louis Assoc o/t Deaf Club 19.11.2020

Governor Mike Parson signed House Bill 1682 into law today, July 13, 2020! This new law recognizes September as Deaf Awareness Month and the last week of Septem...ber as Deaf Awareness Week in Missouri. Thanks to the Governor for signing this bill. The bill's sponsor, Representative Jerome Barnes, attended the signing ceremony today. Rep. Barnes wore a clear mask, which allows for lip-reading and other facial expressions while communicating with individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Deaf and hard of hearing individuals and professionals who serve them can request these clear masks from MCDHH on our website at http://mcdhh.mo.gov/masks ID: Governor Mike Parson at his desk signing the bill, while Rep. Jerome Barnes stands watching on the right. Barnes is wearing a clear mask. The American flag and the Missouri flag are displayed in the background.

The board of GSLAD has a vlog for you to watch. Please check it out! GSLAD is still closed. As we stated, it will be indefinitely until the order is lifted by S...t. Louis County, and guidelines can be followed. President Jason Roberts had spoken with an Environmental Specialist of St. Louis County Department of Public Health. As of now, our venue/building is not able to open. Per St. Louis County Department of Public Health guidelines, we do not have resources or finances available. In addition, our building design does not comply with their guidelines either. Here is the link for the guidelines for our bar area (not banquet hall rental). http://www.stlcorona.com//food-establishment-and-bar-oper/ A summary from the guidelines (important points): - Install plexiglass barriers at our bar and kitchen order windows. - Rearrange tables and chairs to maintain the 6 feet distancing between tables/chairs. If it can't do so, install a floor barrier (plexiglass) between tables/chairs. - The bar/recreation area is restricted to 25% capacity, which means only 15-20 are allowed at a time. - Must provide disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer to everyone. - All employees and volunteers must be checked in with a temperature check and require to wear face masks at all times. - All kitchen surfaces such as the countertop, tables, doorknobs, handles, hand sinks, etc., must be wiped down with disinfectants/sanitizers every hour. - All gaming, such as cards, dart machines, shuffleboard, and billiards/pool table are not allowed to be used/played. - All food and drinks must be pre-packed. No buffet or self serve food is allowed. - No one is allowed to sit at the bar as Customers may not sit at the bar or any other location within 6 feet of areas where drinks are prepared. - Seek services to check the water pipes and HVAC system to make sure that it is all good in order to prevent Legionnaires' disease. These are not all of the guidelines, but those are the most important precautions for us to follow if/when we decide to open. All cleaning supplies and face masks are in short supply on the market, as well as at skyrocketing prices, it will financially be a burden for us to purchase them at this point. We feel the best option currently is to wait it out and see when those supplies will be available to us at reasonable prices. Our members' health and safety is our highest priority, so we will continue sending out information to educate members about COVID-19 safety/guidelines, as well as rules/tips to survive during this terrible pandemic. We will stay united and go through this together. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected].
