The current American Dental Association recommendation for dentists to keep their offices closed to all but emergency care expires on Monday, April 6. The new interim recommendation from the ADA (released Tuesday, April 1 and linked here) is that dentists keep their offices closed to all but urgent and emergency procedures until April 30 at the earliest. The MDA Board of Trustees supports this new interim postponement recommendation by the ADA. https://bit.ly/2xKaCgS

The Missouri Mission of Mercy (MOMOM) is a large-scale dental clinic that provides free oral healthcare to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care. Nationwide since 2000, Mission of Mercy clinics have helped more than 240,000 patients and have provided nearly $172 million in free dental services since 2000. In Missouri, more than 6,100 dental and general volunteers have provided more than $5.6 million in free care to 9,735 patients.

We are saddened to share the passing of Bob Edmonds of Edmonds Dental Prosthetics in Springfield. Bob was a friend to dentistry, and Edmonds Dental Prosthetics continues to be supportive of the MDA and its programs. We send our condolences to his family and the Edmonds Dental Prosthetics family. The MDA will be making a Memorial Contribution to the MDA Foundation in Bob's honor. From his obituary: After graduating from West Plains High School in 1961, Bob moved into the YMCA ...in Springfield. He attended SMSU and took a job as a denture technician at Ozark's Dental Lab. Later he became a partner in Bauer-Edmonds Dental Lab. In 1983 he became sole owner of Edmonds Dental Prosthetics where he was able to grow the dental laboratory from 22 employees to 135 employees before retiring in December of 2012. He received many well-deserved honors throughout his career, including being inducted into the Springfield Dental Society as an Honorary Member.
