Happy Father’s Day to all our families and fathers! Thank you for all you do and know that no matter how old you get, your children will never stop looking up to you. Have a great rest of your day and we will see you tomorrow!
Dear Green Tree Community, As a Montessori community, we are saddened by the loss of life, and deeply disturbed by the persistent racism and aggression among some of those in our country. We cannot tolerate these injustices. Maria Montessori said, When we speak of peace, we do not mean a partial truce between separate nations, but a permanent way of life for all [mankind.] and World harmony cannot be achieved simply by attempting to unite adults, but it is possible to sta...rt with the child who is not born with prejudices. The child who is the constructor of the man is capable of doing something great and forming a better humanity. These tragic events must serve as a reminder that we still have much work to do in creating more inclusive environments; for our children, our community, our nation and our world. As a Montessori school, we have a responsibility to make sure we are doing our part to foster empathy and kindness. We wrote our mission in the hopes that Green Tree would do just this. MISSION The mission of Green Tree Montessori is to provide a Montessori education, rooted in equitable access for all children to reach their full potential. Our community is committed to ensuring your child develops a strong academic foundation, a joy for learning and the self-confidence to live a happy life. We emphasize peace education, personal responsibility, celebration for cultural diversity and a respect for nature. In order to support our children with an anti-racist education, two families have reached out about setting up a fund to purchase sets of children's books. You will receive an email from Emily Figley and Jessica Fehl, in the next few days. This is a parent-led initiative. To all African Americans that we know and to all in the world, you matter. We see you. Sincerely, Florence W Kramer
First water play day of the summer is in the books!
Getting our outdoor area ready for the children.
Beginning Sound Treasure Baskets. Gather objects with the same beginning sound. You can start with the first sound in your child’s name. Make sure to isolate and say the letter sound rather than the name of the letter and try not to add a vowel sound. This language activity is for 2-1/2-6 year old children but can be simply an exploration basket for younger children. It will improve the child’s expressive and receptive language skills.
