This HOA worked with our team to create this rain garden / bioswale system to help alleviate constant stormwater issues in their backyards. Planting is one year old.

Check out this stone wall the team just completed. This style is much more natural looking and requires a ton of creativity to build, we hope this look will catch on. Can’t wait to install lighting and a ton of native plants all around this wall.

We love using native plant ground covers as a green mulch in our designs. Check out one of our favorite plants to use Packera obovata, golden groundsel. This ...low growing ground cover, that is native to our area, fills in quickly, plays nicely with others and will be one of the first plants to bloom every year. See more

Native plants can offer beauty and bring ecology to your landscape. That’s a win for the planet!

There is nothing more rewarding than clients that continue to work with you over multiple projects. This project started as a fireplace, patio and wall nearly 3 years ago. Now in the next phase we’re installing a water feature, a staircase and a second patio. Stay tuned.

Royal Catchfly. Indian Grass. Big Bluestem. Liastris. Downy Skullcap. Natalie and William Gibson, of Down To Earth Services and Green Thumb Gardens, certainly ...know their native plants and how to build sustainable landscaping. Back in 2013, however, this married couple and co-founders weren't 100% sure how to build a sustainable business, how to build a lasting legacy. The green industry is a $1 billion industry, and Natalie and Will needed help nurturing and growing their idea into a business that could run on its own. Enter the ELEVATIONLAB at Missouri SBDC at UMKC and the three courses that would transform their businesses: Construction Venture, Growth360 and Scale Up Kansas City. These courses helped them turn their passion (alright, it's a downright mission) into a viable and thriving business. Hear all about it . . . Reach out to Will and Natalie if you're rethinking your pandemic garden. Reach out to KCSourceLink if you're rethinking how you've built and how you're growing your business. ScaleUP! KC is now accepting applications. Apply by Dec. 23 at www.scaleupkc.com.

Today we completed phase 1 of this backyard transformation. If you remember our client needed a space that was safe to walk unassisted. To oblige her eagerness ... to engage with nature, we designed a 250’ path with two bridges and a bioswale to redirect stormwater. Our client was really excited to be able to walk safely unassisted in nature, in her own yard and so are we. See more

Recently we’ve been working on a phased project for a visually impaired client. There will be two of these bridges connecting a 250’ path through the clients ba...ckyard. Looking forward to showing how we created a functional and safe backyard that will also be entirely planted with native plants. See more

We’ve been using heavy gauge catle panel a lot lately and really like it!

Planted summer 2019. Photos 10.7.20. This bioswale helps redirect stormwater that was causing a muddy mess for our clients. Native plants are our best solution for solving stormwater related issues. Their ability to act like sponges is truly incredible!

When the Wickford HOA in Overland Park, KS reached out to us they were suffering from numerous stormwater issues affecting multiple properties. Working together... with multiple stake holders we were able to create a multi approached system that features two rain gardens and large bioswale to divert and redirect water away from the properties while also adding aesthetic beauty and ecological benefits. Cant wait for this system to grow in. See more

Getting busy at Transparent Brewing and The Chive restaurant here in Grandview, MO. Crews are knocking out two bocce ball courts today. Courts will overlook a 6k native plant plugged bioretention system. Couldn’t think of a better spot to drink beer and play some bocce.

2 month old planting starting to take shape. This commercial retail center in downtown Lee’s Summit was looking for a sustainable, natural, native look to dress... up their 20+beds. We were glad to oblige! Hell Strips or areas surrounded by concrete put a ton of stress on plantings. Luckily Mother Nature already found the solution...plant native! Stay tuned as these beds rock out next year! See more

Old concrete slab was cracked and causing standing water on this driveway. Working with the concrete company we designed a system that will allow surface water ...and downspouts to run through a bioswale that will be planted soon with tons of beneficial native plants to slow and absorb the water. Landscaping that is both functional and ecological. See more
