Abusers will commonly use the court system to maintain power and control long after the relationship ends. This can result in survivors losing trust in the court system, and can deter survivors from accessing the justice system. If you need help accessing the civil or criminal justice system, we can help. 417-874-2600.

Do you need assistance with child support? Child Support Division will be at the Family Justice Center Thursday, May 20th to answer questions about child support and the services they offer, including the establishment of and enforcement of child support orders. Appointments are recommended and can be easily made by calling our main number, 417-874-2600.

Technology and the Internet are powerful tools for victims and survivors of domestic violence, and can be essential to accessing resources and information, and staying connected to friends and family. But they can also be used by abusive partners to begin, continue, or escalate abuse. We offer one safe place for victims and survivors of domestic violence to access all of the services they need comfortably and confidentiality. Survivors are provided with information about all of the available services by a community-based advocate, and then the survivor choose the services that feel right for them. Stalking is a tactic abusers use to intentionally create a fear of harm or death, and stalking is closely connected to physical violence. In a national study, 81% of women who were stalked by a current or former cohabitating partner were also physically assaulted by that partner. Navigating co-parenting with an abuser is extremely difficult, and can put survivors and their children in danger. It's one of the many reasons a survivor of domestic violence may decide to stay in the relationship rather than attempt to leave. If you or someone you know needs assistance, we can help. We have attorneys with Legal Services onsite and available for legal advice and representation related to domestic violence. An advocate can help you apply for these services while at the Family Justice Center, and our services are confidential, non-judgmental, and free of charge.
