Last week Diane Tessman and I were awarded the People's Choice awards at the the Greater St Louis Art Associations monthly meeting. At the monthly meetings the GSLAA now has a friendly critique of artists artwork. Anyone that is a member can bring in one artwork and have it critiqued by members in attendance. The members also vote for their favorite artworks and the art with the most votes receives the People's Choice award. Diane Tessman won the 3D award with her handmade hat and Garry McMichael won the 2D award for his painting of Elephant Rocks State Park titled "Winter's Chill". Come to the next GSLAA meeting on September 26th and be part of the critique.

As President of the Greater St. Louis Art Association, and on behalf of the Board, it is with great sadness that I report the passing of Vic Barr. Friday evening we lost one of our most dedicated, supportive and active GSLAA members. Vic was a driving force in our organization and a friend to all. Vic was our current Treasurer, Board Member and Art Fair Committee Co-Chair. There aren't enough words to express our grief at this time. Less than 24 hours prior to his passing we... had a Board Meeting and Vic was in attendance sharing his input; he seemed to be himself. One never knows when our time will end. Lead by example, be kind to each other and most of all contribute to the betterment of others just like Vic always did. Vic, you are loved by many and you will always live on in our memories and hearts.Thank you for letting us share time with you. Sincerely, Ken McDade President, GSLAA

The Artist’s community has lost a good friend today. Vic Barr passed away sometime late Friday. As a leader of the Greater St Louis Art Association, one of the... organizers of the Queeny Art Fair and an extremely talented woodworker he will be sorely missed. Little information about his funeral is available now, but we’ll update you in the near future. We have lost a great friend. God Speed Vic.
