All 3rd and 4th grade students met with Mrs. Byrd today to kickoff state MAP testing week. Students were reminded that what matters during testing is that they give their best EFFORT and focus on growth, not their overall score. The message of the day was "You are MORE than a test score!" Today marks the start of teacher appreciation week. In a year where we began hoping to make it at least a few weeks learning at school, we’ve managed to power through and offer in-person learning for all but one week. Teachers work tirelessly during a regular year, but somehow this year was more challenging than ever. Imagine being responsible for 20+ students mastering grade level content, after being out of school for 6+ months. While also having to constantly sanitize, ma...ke sure very young students wear masks and sit behind dividers. Imagine preschool students eating meals in the classroom, while teachers opened items and cleaned up messes. Many of them rarely ate lunch themselves. But much like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, these tremendous teachers rose to the challenge and made this year as normal and fun as possible for our students. I challenge everyone to take a moment and drop a special thank you message to your child’s teacher(s) in the comments below. *The weekly food giveaway of 7 dinners, 7 snacks, and a gallon of milk per child (up to 18 yrs of age) is at Grandview middle school parking lot every Tuesday from 3-5pm. *You can now sign up for updates in case of bad weather. Text the word "GRANDVIEW" to 636-278-9993. *They would like more people to come by on Tuesdays and take advantage of this program. You simply drive up, and they load it in your car for you. Please spread the word to everyone you know with kids. This is not a Grandview only program, anyone can take advantage of it. They also have giveaways at other locations too. Please spread the word!

Kindergarten registration has been set for April 12, and preschool screening is set for May 3. Please call the elementary office to make an appointment. School is set to resume tomorrow, January 5th. We hope everyone enjoyed their winter break! For those families that picked up a chromebook, you may send those in with your student. Families are also allowed to keep the chromebooks for the rest of the school year in case of possible virtual learning in the future. Parents are responsible for any damages to the devices unless insurance was purchased. ALL internet hotspots need to be returned by Friday. Many of ...those were borrowed from another district and need to be returned. We look forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow! #EaglePride
