Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness

After several days of negotiations, Mayor Q, council member Ryan Parks-Shaw and KC Homeless Union have come to an accord. This is a positive first step toward longer-term stability for those residing at City Hall.

FYI- The Swope Health Services Mobile Medical Unit will be at the Nourish KC/Community Kitchen/Street Medicine KC area on Thursday, April 1, 2021 around 9:00 AM and will provide Mobile Health Services through our Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) for individuals experiencing homelessness.

World Homeless Day is not about a day. It’s about hot pavement under bare and swollen feet. It’s mud in a wound. It’s needing enough insulin to survive the ...week but not having a cool place to store it. It’s a stolen asthma inhaler during a very bad allergy season. It’s when the small, urgent moments of surviving on the street come up against the long term planning required for taking daily medication. It is a raging addiction that was barely managed in the life before, the life that had carpet and bath water. It’s not being able to call out for help because the shame and depression have erased any options. It’s not one day. It’s all the individual days combined that make up a single, precious human life.
