The first day of the hummingbird festival -- damp, windy & a bit chilly. The hummingbirds weren't fazed. They're still swamping the feeders. Tomorrow is the webinar with our expert Josh Potter who will answer all your questions. It's at 4 pm via Zoom. Register by sending an email to [email protected]. Put "GO Hummingbird Webinar" in the subject line. Or you can call us at 816 325 7115.
George Owens Nature Park is open throughout the weekend and there are hummingbirds and Monarch butterflies galore now. If the front gate is locked, park across the street and walk in. The patio behind the Lodge is lined with hummingbird feeders and tables have been spaced for social distancing. It’s also in the open air and covered so a nice place for a picnic and to watch the hummingbirds. Inside, DeWitt nature center will be open until 5 pm today and from noon to 5 pm on S...unday; closed on Monday. Finally, the Hummingbird Festival begins on Wednesday and runs through next Saturday. See our event page.
