I’ve had plenty of time to think about the office and systems during this covid-19 epidemic. Though I truly miss connecting and helping our patients, it has been nice to slow down a bit and reconnect with things I’ve taken for granted. My family, my friends, my freedom. I miss my patients, I miss my staff and I just miss the routine. I have furloughed all my staff, because I don’t want them to risk being exposed to the virus. I really appreciate all that they do for the offic...e, because I’m finding myself doing everyone’s job. I feel lost, antsy, anxious and a bit useless when I’m not working, to be honest. With technology, I’ve been able to forward all phone calls to my cell, so I’ve been cancelling, scheduling and rescheduling all appointments from March 18 until now. I text patients to check on them, and I’ve been able to send statements to patients to collect balances. I’ve gotten the office mail and entered all insurance payments, calling insurance companies when necessary to get them to pay a claim. In short, I love my family, I love my staff and o love my patients. We will all get through this, with perhaps a bit more appreciation for the little things, as well as a bit more humility. I am truly humbled to have my health, as well as all of you in my life. Looking forward to a grand re-opening on May 1st, which happens to be my 50th birthday! So as most of you know, I have had to close my office due to covid-19. I am only able to see true emergencies so as to prevent emergency rooms from getting bombarded with dental problems (they already have their hands full). So one of my patients called me last night, hasn’t slept in a week due to his rotten wisdom tooth. I met him at the office 8 am and removed his tooth. Then he casually mentions he came down with a rash a couple days ago. I asked him where it was (on his t...runk) and after a few more questions I decided he had shingles. THANK GOD IM MARRIED TO A DERMATOLOGIST and he works right NEXT DOOR!!!!! Daniel Ring to the rescue! I texted dan, he cane right over, patient lifted his shirt and the diagnosis of shingles was confirmed.
