This is Zayden. Zayden is our handsome, loving, brave, strong 9 year old baby boy. Zayden battles intractable epilepsy. It isn't who he is but it is something t...hat is apart of him. This is Zayden seizing. This seizure lasted over an hour while he layed in his father, my husband's, arms. His first tonic clonic seizure happened on November 15th, 2009. He was not even 3 months old. Zayden has tried every pharmaceutical, keytogenic diet, and a vegal nerve stimulator. He seized so often despite everything we tried until he was able to start CBD oil. His seizures would last up to 4 hours prior and now they don't typically last longer than 30 minutes. We are beyond grateful for the amazing power of this plant given to us by God. Without this oil I fully believe my son would be dead. Sadly, here in Missouri our laws don't allow Zayden to access the most high quality oil that is available in other states. The laws in Missouri still force us to use Valium instead of allowing us the option to give our son liquid THC during a seizure to stop it in its tracks! An amount that wouldn't make him high but would allow him to quickly recover and continue on being his silly self. The laws in Missouri require us to dose our son with an unbelievable amount of Valium. An adult dose is 5mg...Zayden can take 60mg! The laws in Missouri force an epileptic to have tried at least 3 seizure medications without any successful control before they are allowed to try the CBD oil. Cannabis shouldn't be the last choice....it should be the first!! Zayden was on 8 different pharmaceutical seizure medications. He is now down to 3. We are trying so hard to currently wean him off of Onfi. That is what caused him to seize for over an hour last night. His body and brain are so addicted to a poison. It just isn't fair!! I am not one to stand in front of you and say Cannabis is a cure for everything and is for everyone. I know that just isn't true. However, it should be an option!! It should be a choice, a decision, a factor of the diagnosis. Instead, it is cast out and labeled a drug. This "drug" saves so many lives. Not just from death but also grants back the freedom that has been taken away from so many. The freedom to do things that so many take for granted, dishes, laundry, grocery shop, shower, dress. I plead with you to do your research before stepping into the voters box. There will be 2 medical cannabis amendments and one proposition on the ballot. Make a decision based on what benefits you and those you love that need the medication. Don't make a decision based on making profit or becoming famous.
