Another week completed and a new one about to begin. We were notified last week that our contract to provide construction layout staking for a 2 mile long trail, associated storm sewer structures and a bridge was approved. Office work to set up necessary working files started last week and will continue this week. Field staking is scheduled to start 1st part of next month. Also working on a site/grading plan for new self storage project in Peculiar. The finished a survey in ...Kansas City on some property owned by Charter Funerals who is a longtime client. All in all, Jan & Feb have been good months and we are well above our minimum invoicing goals.

Another week is just about finished and I am doing the research for several new survey jobs and hoping the weather gets better next week when I have to go to the field and begin looking for existing markers to start the survey from. Also have been working on getting building permit application packets ready for a couple of my builder clients. This includes getting house plans drawn and survey plot plans prepared along with filling out the application forms. Also have been get...ting information ready for tax filing. Looks like last year was a good year as gross income for 2019 is double the income in 2018. The new year looks like it is going to be a good year as well. Both survey requests and permit applications are up compared to the previous two Januaries. Each week finds us working on something different. This week I have a client who has a home in where the concrete slab that it sits on is breaking up. It costs too much to jack the house up and replace the slab plus the house is too close to the property line. They have decided to tear the house down and build a new home at the proper distance from the property line. My job is to survey the lot to determine the property lines, prepare a plot plan drawing for the building permit application and stake the new house for construction . Also assisting a couple of home building contractors with house plans and building permit applications for several lots in Grain Valley, Blue Springs, Belton, Lee's Summit and Olathe.

This week finds me working on a Site / Grading plan for Phase 2 of a self storage project in Pleasant Hill, MO. This has been a challenge since the property rises 18 feet and storage projects are normally constructed on relatively flat sights, but I finally developed a plan that fits the site Also wrote a contract to perform surveys and a plat drawing to fix a problem of the property line going through the swimming pool. Trying to get a subdivision plat recorded on another pr...oject, but the owner has not paid their current real estate taxes. Every survey is different with its own special problems. Helping people solve a problem is what makes surveying so rewarding.

Just finished another boundary survey where the corner markers were supposedly set in 2009 by another surveyor but could not find any evidence that they were ever sat. This survey was on a 117 acres site and 30 or more corner markers. I wish people who call themselves "professional" would actually complete the job and comply with adopted standards. Enough said about that. Currently working on a Site Grading plan for an ATM facility in Blue Springs and a Self Storage facility in Pleasant Hill plus several smaller surveys for various clients. Also working on building permit applications for several home builders. It has been a busy and good year for us and 2019 receipts have more than doubled last year receipts.
