Gaia's Garden Essential Oils 04.05.2021

Today was a beautiful day to rejuvenate. I had the pleasure of spending time with my grand children, which always fills my heart and soul with happiness. Although I did not kick back by a river, I found myself rejuvenated just by doing something I love - pushing a child on a swing and hearing them laugh filled my soul! I wondered to myself what does rejuvenate actually mean, so I went looked it up. The definition of the word rejuvenate means to "give new energy or vigor t...o; revitalize. To "restore a youthful appearance to", which I find completely necessary in the day and age we live in. Stress and worry take a toll on the human body and spirit, so anytime I can carve out some time for rejuvenation (even if its while I'm standing at the sink, washing the dishes and reflecting on my day as smell the sweet aroma of this recipe), I try my best to take it. Here are the listed benefits I was able to locate for some of the constituents listed in the oils in this recipe: Chamazulene reverses osteoarthritic inflammation, has moderate antioxidant and antimicrobial activities, and significant antiplatelet activity. Studies indicate potent anti inflammatory action, some antimutagenic (capable of reducing the frequency of mutation) and cholesterol-lowering activities, as well as antispasmotic and anxiolytic (anxiety relieving)effects. Pubmed listed the following in regards to the bioactivity of the constituents from the cedrus atlantica: antifungal, anti-infectious, antiseptic, astringent, diuretic and sedative effects. Ancient Folklore says that cedrus atlantica is supposed to be the species most closely related to the biblical Cedars of Lebanon.

I’m going to do something different today and list the known constituents in both oils in this recipe and allow you to go do some research for yourself to discover the amazing benefits nature has endowed them with. Ylang Ylang: There are actually several grades of Ylang-Ylang essential oil, which are generated from sequential extractions (essential oil can be extracted from the Ylang-Ylang flowers up to 4 times). Young Living produces the most sought after, top grade oil, w...hich is produced by the first distillation. A lot of commercially available Ylang-Ylang oil is a blend of the top 2 or 3 grades. The primary component of Ylang-Ylang essential oil is linalool, which is also abundant in the essential oils of lavender, coriander and basil. Ylang-ylang is also rich in caryophyllene, Germacrene D, p-methylanisole, geranyl acetate and benzyl benzoate. Ylang-Ylang oil tends to be one of the more complex essential oils, with over 100 different chemical constituents present in varying amounts. Lavender: The chemical composition of this oil varies based upon the time of year that the plant is processed. I have noticed that sometimes my lavender smells more earthy and rich, which I later learned is because it was harvested later in the year as opposed to the spring or early summer crops. Generally, Lavender consists mainly of monoterpenes (Lavandulae aetheroleum, DAB 100, the most important component of which is linaloyl acetate (30-55%), also linalool (20-35%), b-ocimene, cineole, and camphor, and also the sesquiterpene caryophyllene oxide; tannins (5-10%), derivatives of rosmarinic acid; courmarin; flavonoids; phytosterols. My two favorite places to look up information on essential oil research are: Google Scholar and Pubmed Let me know what you find! I'm always interested in learning more about how nature works. :)

Here is a recipe for when you just need to gently drift away... Like all the other recipes I have been posting, I am going choose a few constituents found in each oil as provided from published scientific research. I urge you to look up each of these oils yourself and explore the many constituents found in each oil. Only one of the many will be listed here for your review:... Beta caryophyllene this constituent is shown to have analgesic, powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant and circulatory and pulmonary system stimulant. It is also widely known to enhance wound healing and research showed it suppresses ovarian cancer proliferation. This study right here is HUGE read it for yourself and see that we are not being shown all the effective ways we can protect ourselves from the current worldwide issue: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18357554/ And finally, because the last oil in this recipe is a blend, (and blends can have untold constituents) I’m not going to post any data on this one. Single oils contained in this blend: Copal (or Copaiba). Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea, Lavender and Vanilla. This is one of my favorite blends and the combination of the vanilla and lime is just amazing! Enjoy this simple recipe and I wish you Sweet Dreams.
