First calf of 2020! She took advantage of the 64 degree day before tomorrow’s 30 degree high with ice and snow to bring this little bull into the world! Such a gorgeous udder on this first calf heifer! Second calf for the season as we kicked it off a couple weeks ago with a polled Sunny Valley Sargent bull also out of a first calver. New calving pens are in at the new farm so even though we are praying for mild weather we are ready for whatever Mother Nature throws at us! We made the decision a few months back to begin a crossbreeding program using Angus and Fleckvieh with long term plans of incorporating other breeds. We took a very calculated and deliberate approach to selecting the Angus females to serve as our initial base. Our #1 goal is to create replacement females for the commercial cattlemen that are desirable, functional and profitable! We want to provide females that are thick, long, deep bodied, big ribbed, posses ideal udders wit...h great milk production and longevity built in! If there’s one thing that we have ever been sure about it is how well Fleckvieh bulls work in crossbreeding and commercial applications. It’s our thought that by practicing what we preach we can overcome a majority of the hesitation some cattlemen have with using Flecks, provide on-site examples of the benefits, expand our customer base with an additional product offered all while building a top notch herd of high percentage Fleck commercial cattle!! Just as we’ve all heard...the proof is in the pudding!! Here are a few of the Angus females we’ve selected that compliment the Fleckvieh in this new endeavor!!
