History lesson today: Due to an installed automatic sprinkler system, the Murdock Building survived a destructive 1918 fire in the West Bottoms industrial area, making it the only 19th century building remaining in the 1200 block of Union Avenue today.- nps.gov Come see this beauty Friday at 5p!

Some KC history, leading up to our First Friday Open house: The Murdock building in the West Bottoms was constructed in September 1887. "It employed a large number of salesmen and manufacturing personnel, the company manufactured, marketed, and distributed its own brand of coffee, tea, and exotic spices from the nominated building; located on a railroad spur, the building's rear loading dock is still extant and facilitated the exporting of goods to customers throughout the Midwest. The Murdock Building has attained significance as an important contributor to the commercial expansion of the railroad freighting industry in Kansas City!" -nps.gov We'll have more fun facts throughout the week and don't forget to RSVP!
