Fredericktown Fire Department

Fredericktown Fire Department recently put two new items in service that were received with CARES act funds. A UVC disinfecting lamp will be utilized to disinfect apparatus or rooms that have been contaminated by Covid or other viruses/bacteria. The Department will also be utilizing a "Decon/pak" to clean firefighters gear on scene after an incident.

Members of the department are making use of the department training facility tonight. Firefighters are rescuing victims in heavy smoke conditions.

Fredericktown Fire responded to a commercial fire on Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of S. Mine La Motte. Firefighters quickly extinguished a room and contents fire on the first floor of the structure. No injuries occurred. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

**OUTDATED POST** A Severe Thunderstorm WARNING has been issued for Southern Madison County until 5:45PM. Locations impacted include Marquand, Saco, and Buckhorn. The storm has a history of producing large hail to the size of golf balls. This storm could eventually effect the City of Fredericktown so stay weather aware!

Traffic Alert Due to a motor vehicle accident the 100 block of West Main Street is closed to traffic. ETA of reopening is not available at this time.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Madison County tonight. Freezing rain will begin later this evening and last into the early morning hours. Icy travel conditions will be possible so plan accordingly if you get out for any #NYE2021 events.

Fredericktown Fire just cleared the scene of a flue fire. The fire was contained with no significant damage. There is plenty of winter weather ahead so remember to clean and check your chimneys regularly.
