First Warn Winter Storm Statement: Monday, February 3, 2020 Issued: 6:46pm. . The area will begin to see multiple rounds of wintry precipitation beginning Tu...esday and lasting through early Thursday. .This includes a light glaze of ice at the onset Tuesday and Tuesday night and accumulating snowfall is expected Wednesday and Wednesday night... Snow may linger into Thursday. At this point there is high certainty the event will occur, however there remains questions about the precipitation type, overall totals, and the exact area where the heaviest accumulation will occur. Timing for this storm system with the wintry mix onset beginning from the NW to SE... Central MO should see the mix after 3pm... STL area by Midnight... and SE MO by 3am... Once the colder air moves southward... Precip will change from rain to the wintry mix then to all snow. .Tuesday evening rush will likely be wet, but not icy... Wednesday morning-afternoon-evening will be a mess. .The main changes for this issuance is the increased snowfall amounts and the axis of highest amounts that shifted to the northwest. We need to closely monitor this axis of heaviest snow a mere shift 30 miles can/will change the overall forecast. .Most of the accumulating snow will fall during the day on Wednesday and additional accumulation will continue into Wednesday night. .Total snow amounts are still in question, but I have increased snow totals for the Columbia-Jeff City area to near 7" or more... STL area/St Charles 3-5" with higher amounts....South of I-44 to a Farmington-Perryville-Chester line 2-3" of snow. .Ice will also be a concern at the onset. Highest ice potential is over the Farmington-Perryville area where up to .25" of ice is expected. .Stay tuned as this storm will continue to evolve and likely more fine tuning will be warranted.
OUTDATED Light glazing of ice for Tuesday with minimal snowfall. The heaviest snowfall of 2"-6" (Moberly, Columbia, Bowling Green, Quincy) is likely to occur Wednesday and Wednesday night.
