Spring is only 24 days away! Soon the gardens will be in bloom. Is anyone else ready?
Just in case you didn't already know.....
The new museum is looking for a video of the Little Rock railroad transfer ferry in operation. While it ceased operation in 1961, we are hoping someone has it in an old family movie collection. It could carry up to 18 railroad cars between Ste. Genevieve and Kellogg, Illinois! Please contact the Foundation office if you have one. (573-883-9622). You could learn something new today.
This is the official logo for the Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park. Note the bottom of the fleur de lis is the NPS arrowhead. This is from a window sticker you can get at the welcome center for 2.95 each.
Foundation Plants Bicentennial Tree The Foundation for Restoration of Ste. Genevieve planted a tree in Memorial Cemetery on November 30th in honor of Missouri’s 200th anniversary of achieving statehood. The tree, a burr oak provided by Rob Roy Nursery, was appropriately planted near the tombstone of John Ferguson Scott. Scott served as Missouri’s Territorial representative to Congress during the statehood process. He also served as Missouri’s first United States Congressional Representative after statehood was achieved. The Foundation planted a cherry tree several years ago near the tombstone of US Senator Lewis Fields Linn. These efforts are part of the Foundation’s long-range planting plan for Memorial Cemetery. The Foundation was represented by John Karel of the Cemetery Committee and Michael Weiler, president of the Foundation.
Thanks to Ste. Gen TV for filming our reenactment of early Ste. Genevieve settlers for the Spirit Reunion last month.
It’s finally done! The end of one chapter and the start of another!
Long time coming. Vive Ste. Genevieve!
